1911 22 conversion ?

Post by primewish »

Ok i have a Kimber 22 conversion kit. and I had a thread adapter for a can put on it. I am having cycling issues with it. I know i need to switch the main spring out but to what weight. If anyone here has done this please let me know what worked for you. I have tried everything from all the different grains that i could get my hands on but nothing works any help would be appreciated.

You should not have to change anything when running it suppressed, what can are you using?

Shouldn't be having any issues with that combo.

What is the issue with cycling? FTF or FTE?

Chamber is too tight, doesn't have to do with the recoil spring

CALL KIMBER and see what they suggest, sounds like the chamber could use a nice honing.

Don't be scared to call the manufacturer. They DO test with suppressors.

Willing to bet that its a really tight chamber.

I have found Ammo is a game changer

CCI makes a few subsonic rounds.

Remington have been jamming for me

Gemtech offers a 42 grain that isn't to greasy. Seems to work flawless in a few of my guns

Might need a ejector spring.
If you are feeling creative, remove the ejector spring. Heat it, pull it when It's red hot so it is 0.25 longer, then cool it in ice water, dry, cover in grease or lube. May work, may mess it up.

Kimber may send you out a replacement part, worth a try

If I were going to hazard a guess ...

With a suppressor mounted on any of my firearms I get more "fouling", for lack of a better term, around the case mouth.

I don't want to posit too detailed an opinion on the source of this "fouling" so as not to derail the thread from your question but non-expert, armchair logic says some amount of added pressure is driving gas back into the chamber when the suppressor is mounted and carrying with it a certain amount of burnt and/or unburnt solids. This "junk" added to the outside of the case mouth may be providing just enough resistance to overcome the normal ejection process.

That said, we're back to the suggestion of honing/polishing the chamber.
