Ebay sellers gone full on nuts.

Post by rogerme »

My daughter pointed this one out to me today. I can hear the ATF kicking the door down soon..

Yep... looking at his other auctions, it appears he has a full line of "solvent traps" and accessories. Even the ubiquitous "oil filter solvent trap" for "proper disposal of fluids".

People try to do things the correct and legal way and then some bozo like this appears.

Yep, IIRC it was the "fake" silencer for the MAC 10 that you could also buy a bag of rubber disks with that got us the "any part of a silencer IS a silencer" rule.

"THIS IS IN NO WAY A SILENCER!"

That is the best part. Maybe he meant "THIS IS IN EVERY WAY A SILENCER!" and he just fat fingered it.

The fact that there is a HOLE in the MUZZLE end as well kind of make this being labeled a "solvent trap" utter bs. Also not attachment end is threaded the muzzle hole looks suspiciously like a hole one woudl make for the exit of a 22lr round. I see a visit from the BATF in this sellers future. Also as it is hollow it does though not much lessen sound of the gunshot further making it a suppressor. I really woudl love to hear this guy telling the ATF agents raiding his home why this is not a suppressor.

Interesting... but it cost about the same as the licensed ones and those come with the in-nerds which is the hardest part to make.

I posted a few months back about a guy at a gun show selling "Compensators" that looked just like these. He claimed to have a letter from the ATF stating that these are legal and do now need to be registered. He was quite adamant about it being legal.

I had planned on picking one up because his machining was very good. If it had good colinearity, I'd use it for a Form 1 build.

Ok the guy is and knows he is going to get caught. Just for laughs I wrote him and said this looked allot like a suppressor to me. His response was "i didnt realize i didnt have a picture of the ported end which makes this a muzzle brake, i fixed the listing and will be updating my photos today- see_n_see_machine01" he has now changed the picture from the 22 size exit hole to a multi hole endcap..

Were those the "linear muzzle brakes"? They looked interesting but I recall them stirring up a bit of debate.

I remember during AWB I, there was a guy on eGay selling 30 round mags for the 10-22, NIW, and you could clearly see the number "30" on the wrap, and the mag of course was a nice banana shape. This was at the time when liberal eBay was prohibiting the sale of deadly high-cap machine gun magazine clips.

In his description - "I have THIRTY of these ten round magazines for sale. These are not HIGH CAP MAGAZINES for the 10-22." etc. He got them by eGay for quite a while.

As far as big balls - my vote goes to the SUPPRESS-ON guy who was selling pre-81 DIAS's for decades in Shotgun News. I guess he's in jail now.

Looks like the seller pulled the auction.

Maybe someone talked some sense into him.

I wrote him saying these did not look like a good idea. HE gave me a rude reply so I responded saying I had forwarded a copy of the ad with links tot he BATF ( I did not really LOL ). Now he has switched gears. He sells the tube in one auction and the endcaps in another auction. I still think this guy is going to be getting a visit from the atf at some point..

Glad I got my order in before the need to pay separate shipping.

The auction I am looking at is a single threaded tube (open on both ends) and a single end cap that is threaded for the tube and the barrel. Funny thing is... I actually have a legitimate use for this. It would be great on an AR with a short barrel and long handguard. I could put this on and shoot until my suppressor comes in. I guess it's all about "intent", or proving intent.

Still, I'll pass.

It is one thing to pay cash and carry it home. It is a whole other trail left when you order off ebait leaving proof on the WWW about what you did and you're addy to boot.

Gives me a new business idea.

I need to show up at the next Knob Creek with a mobile snake petting zoo. Sounds like there might be a lot of potential clients there.
