Can almost see him sitting there in his tie dyed T, with a self satisfied "was that so hard" smile on his face, as he hits his bong again...
What amount of a man is composed of his own collection of experiences... and the conclusions that those experiences have allowed him to "know" for certain as "Truth"? :Ick
Re: Military offers solution to Second Amendment dilemma
How do you think he would feel if military service was a requirement for all other rights?

Re: Military offers solution to Second Amendment dilemma
could have swarn "the right of the people", meaning it exists before the constitution gives it legal power, was separated from the well regulated militia.
smooth is learned, fast is practiced, precision is earned.
Re: Military offers solution to Second Amendment dilemma
The title is misleading; the "military" has put forth no such suggestion. Some self-satisfied 'intellectual' came up with the idea and is currently basking in the warmth of feeling as though he is smarter than everyone else. He ping-pongs back and forth between petulance and long-suffering to his friends whenever he offers this 'simple solution'. He is certain that people who don't agree with him "just don't get it".
Guns that remain in the custody of the government via the military are not guns "kept and born" by the people. In his over-focus on the clarification clause of the second, he has neglected that most basic aspect: that the guns must be kept by the people.
What it says:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed
What he got out of that:
A well regulated milita being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the government through the military to keep the arms and conditionally allow the people to bear the arms.
Didn't Blacksone opine that part of the reason for gun rights was freedom from oppression? Do you think he meant oppression from Texas white-tail?

I am already a member of the Virginia Militia. Our state code spells out that all able bodied citizens are members.
