Montana Gold Bullets?

I picked up a case of these for my .357 sig in 125 HP, has anybody used them? Are they harder on my barrel because of the brass jackets?

I used them and only noticed that my bore turned gold. Took awhile to scrub it off but they were priced right so it was fine by me. No long term effects noticed.

I've shot thousands and have had no issues. They're good in my book.

When I first heard about them I was a bit skeptical but I wanted jacketed bullets instead of plated so I ordered some.

I've used them for the last 10 years. No problems at all. Time to put in another bulk order

I've used Montana Gold bullets in 38 Specials, 357 Magnums, 45 ACP, 9 mm, and 40 S&W guns. No problem in anything. Would love to buy more, but they have virtually nothing in stock these days. BTW, I found cost to be only about a penny per bullet more than plated, but much better performing.

Nearly every bullet jacket out there is made from some variety of brass or commercial bronze. Your barrel might wear out at 245K instead of 250K rds. (if at all)

The only thing I will say for montana gold, is because of the harder material despite being a hollow point, these are not good defense rounds, as was talked about in the brian enos thread, there is no adhesion between the jacket and the core (bonding) which means these bullets are not much better than the hollowpoints of two generations ago.

I see that several members use these copper plated bullets. Do you use them in suppressors are for general shooting? Does the thin copper plating prevent lead buildup in sealed suppressors?

Montana Gold bullets that I used were jacketed bullets. Their jacket is bronze composition instead of copper composition.

Years ago when I was a volume shooter I did not like the idea of copper washed or plated bullets -- they were offered by various manufacturers as a "low cost" option to traditional jacketed bullets -- that was when I found Montana Gold.

I used their TMJ and JHP bullets so I'd imagine there is not any more lead buildup from their projectiles than others -- the base of the bullet is enclosed.
