SRI is Melonite treating Sparrow tubes!

I would hope it would make it easier to clean. I have a heck of time cleaning the caked squiggly lines of burnt gunk off the two split halves.

I own two sparrows......a very low serial number SS and an original sparrow that was upgraded to SS by silencer co. Id be interested in getting everything coated that can be coated.

Interested. Would the labels / serials be re-lasered after the finish?

Make the hydrogen peroxide / vinegar dip to eat away the lead deposits. Just make sure to add the magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) to the mix after you're done to get that lead from the toxic state (Lead Acetate) to a more safe-to-handle variant, Lead Sulfate, which occurs naturally as a crystal.

The engravings would not be affected by the process.

BTW, Melonite is a hot salt treatment that produces an extremely hard and durable finish that is much better than the parkerizing that is on the tubes now. This treatment is the USA version of Tennifer that is used on Glocks. It would make one of the best cans on the market better.

Do you salt bath nitride Ti? Also do you do barrels/actions? I am a HUGE supporter of that process. Another completely un related question had you cerakoted a melonite finish?

Doing the tube makes sense. That's what the stamp is attached to. Tennifer might be great at stopping seawater but I'm not sure how well it fares against burning gunpowder. And when the rest of the can has a lifetime warranty... it doesn't make all that much financial sense to treat it. Are glock barrels tennifer treated? how much longer does it make the barrels last?

I'm open to treating the whole thing. I'm just trying to think logically and wondering what the real world differences actually are.

I know from personal experience the SBN process increase barrel life and reduce throat erosion as well as copper fowling. If it can handle the immense heat from the friction of a bullet swagging into the throat of a rifle chamber and subsequent blow torch from hot gas i am sure it can handle the pressure inside a can.

We have serviced cans while in transfer from SilencerShop in the past, I am sure they will do it again!

Can't nitride Titanium. Yes we can do barrels and actions as well, actually doing an AR barrel run in the next week or 2 if you need any done.

I personally haven't cerakoted a melonite finish but I have Moly Resin'd it.
