I would hope it would make it easier to clean. I have a heck of time cleaning the caked squiggly lines of burnt gunk off the two split halves.

I would be interested to if it was the whole suppressor.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I own two sparrows......a very low serial number SS and an original sparrow that was upgraded to SS by silencer co. Id be interested in getting everything coated that can be coated.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?

Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I wish I had my stamp NOW so I could be in for either the tube or preferably the whole thing
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
You can have it done while it's in limbo.PDXSparky wrote:I wish I had my stamp NOW so I could be in for either the tube or preferably the whole thing
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I would prefer the entire can if possible.
Did you ever get a firm answer on the warranty?

Interested. Would the labels / serials be re-lasered after the finish?
Make the hydrogen peroxide / vinegar dip to eat away the lead deposits. Just make sure to add the magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) to the mix after you're done to get that lead from the toxic state (Lead Acetate) to a more safe-to-handle variant, Lead Sulfate, which occurs naturally as a crystal.

The engravings would not be affected by the process.Boosted98gsx wrote:Interested. Would the labels / serials be re-lasered after the finish?

Do you salt bath nitride Ti? Also do you do barrels/actions? I am a HUGE supporter of that process. Another completely un related question had you cerakoted a melonite finish?strobro32 wrote:If you own a SilencerCo SS Sparrow with the parked steel tube and would be interested in having it treated with Melonite for durability, Matt of SRI (Stalking Rhino Industries) is considering a group buy.
Matt would want about 30 for $30 pricing.
If you have an interest give a shout out here. This is not a group buy yet, just seeing if there is interest.
BTW, Melonite is a hot salt treatment that produces an extremely hard and durable finish that is much better than the parkerizing that is on the tubes now. This treatment is the USA version of Tennifer that is used on Glocks. It would make one of the best cans on the market better.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I know from personal experience the SBN process increase barrel life and reduce throat erosion as well as copper fowling. If it can handle the immense heat from the friction of a bullet swagging into the throat of a rifle chamber and subsequent blow torch from hot gas i am sure it can handle the pressure inside a can.wacki wrote:Do we have any hard data that this will make a significant difference?
Doing the tube makes sense. That's what the stamp is attached to. Tennifer might be great at stopping seawater but I'm not sure how well it fares against burning gunpowder. And when the rest of the can has a lifetime warranty... it doesn't make all that much financial sense to treat it. Are glock barrels tennifer treated? how much longer does it make the barrels last?
I'm open to treating the whole thing. I'm just trying to think logically and wondering what the real world differences actually are.

Can't nitride Titanium. Yes we can do barrels and actions as well, actually doing an AR barrel run in the next week or 2 if you need any done.joe0121 wrote:Do you salt bath nitride Ti? I personally haven't cerakoted a melonite finish but I have Moly Resin'd it.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
Please put me down on the list. I would also be most interested in full treatment if you end up offering this.

Interested in whole suppressor.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
B, Any word from SilencerCo on the warranty issue? How do we stand on the numbers?
If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.

Will give Silencerco a call again tomorrow and try to get a solid number.rcn11thacr wrote:bumpstrobro32 wrote:B, Any word from SilencerCo on the warranty issue? How do we stand on the numbers?
If EVERYONE that has said they were interested in it actually sends it in we will be good to go, we have the needed numbers.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
How long it take to get it whole can done? I'm in.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
Count me in. Especially if the guts can also be treated.

Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I'm in. Prefer full, but would settle for tube only. Still at the dealer for a month, so it also depends on how willing they are to ship out while it's pending.
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I'm interested as well. Is it just the tubes at this point? Or the complete can?
Thank you!
Thank you!
Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
Any further word yet?
Also a question occurred to me that might be of interest. Will it still be possible to "Wet Tumble" with SS pins without damage to the new surface?

I would be interested for the full can if still remained covered with the warranty and price
