Best thread size for 1 inch ID tube

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Just curious as to what is the most common/preferred thread pitch for a 1 inch ID tube.

Thank you!!

I chose an 15/16-20 UNEF Thread for 1 in OD tube.

Do you mean 1" ID or OD?

Classical 1930's Parker Hale .22 has 20TPI inside thread for front end cap.

For .45 1.25" x 8" can the internal and end cap thread was 24 TPI for strength.

Hope these historical figures of merit info helps.

It's for 1 inch Internal Diameter.

Could one use 1-1/16 UNEF or would a 1-3/16 UNEF be better, or is another size better?

Thank you :D

I would run 1-1/16 NEF.

But, BE SURE to choose a thread size such that the minor diameter of the internal thread is larger than that of the internal diameter of the tube. This way the baffles can be slid in or out without touching the threads

Major Correction of Information:

Something did not sit right with me on my post above so
finally finding my faded penciled notes taken in1960's ( always kept
notes on all data I ran across) I found that the end cap threads on
the 1930's Parker Hale's 1" OD can was really 32 TPI.

The barrel thread was 1/2" X 20.

Sorry for confusion.
