questions about "rotating" the tube on a Octane 9 HD

Post by zeeew »

Hello all.
Is it normal to be able to pull on the 9mm Octane and rotate the tube, when it pulls away from the "cog" shape in the expansion chamber? Is it normal for the can to rotate by itself? Sometimes it rotates slightly, and there is a slight change in exposed adapter length if the cogs dont seat again. No functional issues, just wondering.
Also, does this affect bullet shift or stringing? If the notches change position when the tube rotates? Should one always try to assemble so the notches are always say, at the top or bottom?

I found I needed to rotate the tube so none of the ridges on the piston end cap lined up with the sights, or I would sight along the top of the ridge, effectively making the front sight taller, and shoot low.

What host?

In theory rotating the can can change POI and I believe I have witnessed this with my can, assuming I have the ability to shoot straight at least some of the time.

I've had this same problem. When it rotates by itself and doesn't seat, like its between teeth, you need to lube the piston with white lithium grease. There is an O-ring in the cap that gets dry. Hopefully that should solve all your issues.
Life's simple, you make choices and you don't look back.

Make sure the piston is lubed and the groves inside the booster assembly are free of debris and build up. If you continue to have this issue call or email me and I will get you the info you need to send the can in for us to look at. Let me know how it goes and I'll do whatever I can to help.

I haven't noticed my octane rotating but I will keep an eye out for sure. I have mine mounted on a FNX .45 Tactical. Was able to make one large hole from an 8 round group at 10 yds with no noticeable change in POI.
