You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Better not be. Just got the email today that they are offering a $200 credit if you buy a can. Might be a good way to sell out some cans and clear out their website products. I really hope it is not true because I love all of my aac cans.

PS: now all I need is a 3 lug smg can for my mp5

TAPCO is a company that makes accessories for ak's and AR's.

Well, guess they're thinning the herd. Thank God There is still Silencerco and a few more great can makers but I hope that is not true. TAPCO and AAC merging could be good or bad. Mergers and changes usually mean bad juju to me but it may tighten up a few minor gremlins that AAC has. AAC always seemed to me as somewhat of a trendsetter for gearheads in the silencer world and I have had a few of their cans and I liked them. Their CS has always been good to me.

I would like a stop sign red .22 silencer with a serial number of stop-0001 from them.

Tapco is a maker of shitty plastic aftermarket 'tactical accessories.' If you've ever seen some new guy or goofball at the range with an AR15 loaded down with all kinds of stupid bulky s--t, you've seen TAPCO products. They make a lot of money because they target the uniformed with lots of well-placed (gun rags) advertising.

Wait until you see a press release. Until then consider it a rumor at best.

Thanks for all the info on TAPCO. Of all the links provided I believe I am most likely to do business with these guys http://www.tapcoroofingproducts.com/

Tapco might not be the best stuff for ARs, but I love the Tapco stock I have for one of my 10/22s...it collapses down far enough that my 7yo son can use it, and extends far enough out that I can, too. For about $55, IIRC. Plus, if you have an issue, they're pretty damn responsive. I cracked the piece that goes over the barrel once reassembling it, and called them...had one at my house in less than 72 hours, no hassle.

Granted, most of their other stuff isn't the greatest, but if you're looking for basic parts for range toys or similar, they aren't the worst in the market.

You guys still talking about this?

I know nothing factual as far as this particular rumor, but I'd also not put anything past FGI/ROC/Cerb when it comes to perceived cost cutting/"efficiency"...

I was just talking about TAPCO with byrdman.

The rest of it is just tabloid drama.

Dude. Regarding Freedom Group, a rumor like this seems plausible enough. Whether or not it tuns out to be true, the fact that it's believable is bad enough. They seem to be in the business of "Sig USA"ing firearm companies to death. Their model seems to be profit margin centric, milking pre aquisition reputation until failure. "Aspiring to Tapco" is a perfect way to voice shooters' frustration with the group. I can personally picture high level persons chuckling about the "rednecks" that buy their products.

Every time I hear about this "Freedom Group" I become more and more skeptical. They come out of nowhere, appear to have an unlimited amount of money, absorb company after company, and has their fingers in everything from production to manufacture to ammunition to accessories and even distribution. Centralization of control sounds more accurate to me. If/when such a shutdown happens, I wonder how much tooling and machinery is going to disappear along with former employees...

Certainly. And all plausible rumors that do later turn out to be true could just as easily been hoaxes when they were first told.

I honestly don't care so much about this particular rumor as I do other evidence (Marlin, circumstances which led to Kevin being fired) that Freedom Group is steering a low innovation, cost cutting, profit margin and marketing centric course, seemingly with the likes of Sig USA as a role model for success. (They certainly are successful, from a high-level corporate view. Just not in the view of anyone who wants a quality piece of equipment.)

This is NOT true

Why the "truth" about guns posted this is beyond me.

AAC will make Freedom Group tons of cash this year and the years ahead only look brighter.

You didn't know the rifles and pistols made by SIG in the US had a reputation for issues with quality control? Do a google search for sig quality control.

If memory serves, SIG wasn't doing well and brought in the same guy who wrecked Kimber's quality to save the company. It worked, but SIG's US made products experienced a noticeable decline in quality as a direct result.
