Which suppressor for .223, 45, and 9mm?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Which suppressor for .223, 45, and 9mm?

Post by Tom3809 »

Hey Everybody,

So I am purchasing my first silencer and I am wondering if I could buy a can that could serve on my .223 AR, 45 1911, and 9mm Glock. I know that using a large bore silencer on a smaller caliber gun can cause the shot to be louder, but I have witnessed a comparison and could not tell the difference. Therefore I am wondering what silencer would best suit me.

I have been leaning towards getting an AAC can due to the 200$-off website promotion they have going on.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

The Liberty Mystic is the most versatile for a first silencer. It's the only take-apart pistol can that also handles full power 223 and 300 BLK (at slow rates of fire). However you cannot shoot 40 and 45.

I imagine it's too much to ask of one single can, to be both .45acp, and .223 without major sacrifices on each caliber.

A .30 cal can would be a better option, as well as an independant .45acp can.

Yes , no perfect can for all. Get the Octane 45 and save up for a 308 can. 223 is loud anyway.

This is the correct answer.
I'd also recommend getting a good 22lr silencer.

In other countries where suppressor designs are not regulated some
very old failed obscure designs had 'iris' baffles ... for each calibre from .45 => .22.
in a .45 can to accomodate/substitute various baffle hole diameters.
