help with stuck baffles

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

help with stuck baffles

Post by hbk80rice »

I've neglected my first can and haven't taken the baffles out in years. It's a .22 and is horrible. They seem fused together and I don't want to break them by forcing them. Is there something I can used or a method that will help me get these things out. It was my first can I bought when I was 21 and it has sentimental value, and I don't just want to toss it. Please help me save it.

Thank you!!!!

Aluminium baffles fused together by solidified lead for years? ugghh

Talk to Bendersquint around here. SRI is well known for that kind of work.

Plug one end and fill it up with Kano Kroil, let it sit for 1-2 weeks and it should free up enough to get it apart.

Never tried it, the Kroil is the best penetrant I have used for freeing up suppressors. I use Kroil and JB bore paste to clean my rifle bores too, its a little pricey buy it works.

Holy Bat Guano, Batman! You are the 'anti-particle universe', OCD "clean
every piece, every time, as if 'your life may depend on it" folks.

Doppelgängers have somewhat recovered enough breath to gasp out an old - 1950's machinist -
technique, though hazardous [ NOT inside home ]:

Immerse in 50-50 mixture of transmission fluid and acetone.

A week or so later, if it has not dissolved the container :) ,
you might have a good chance of loosening things up.

"Hey, Maw, why do I need to take a bath? Took one at the beginning of Summer.
Think that might be why my jeans is stuck to my crotch??" - Li'l Abner 1943 Cartoon.

If this fails then you might look around to see if Joe Btfsplk and his black cloud
is hanging around.

Good luck.

The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!
