Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
I have a mystic X on the way and want to get a 22lr pistol to have fun with. I know the mystic x is long and heavy for a rimfire suppressor but it will be a little while before I can get a dedicated can. Does anyone have experience or recommend which 22lr pistols work the best for this suppressor or suppressors overall? Will a longer barrel work better since the suppressor is long? I do like the new M&p compact and Ruger Sr22 but I want what will work the best. Thanks
Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
My first .22 pistol I used for a can was a Walther p22 it worked well but was a little picky on what brand of ammo it would cycle. My newest one is the Sr 22 and it has been awesome. It will eat any ammo I feed it even the crap that I found rolling around under the seat of my truck for who knows how long.

Ruger 22/45 LITE is my personal choice.

Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
+1 for the Ruger SR22, never had it fail to eat anything I've fed it with the exception of it being super dirty after over 1000 rounds and no cleaning. Even then it was rare to have a problem, the only thing that started happening was the dirtiness of the 22 lining the chamber to the point the slide didn't close quite all the way and it wouldn't fire. A quick swab through the barrel fixed it though followed by a good cleaning later on.
Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
I own both the SR22 and new m&p22C. Love shooting them both. But the m&p stays cleaner for much longer when shooting suppressed.
And the m&p22C cycle action remains smooth even if very dirty. The sr22 action will start feeling sticky approaching ~200 rounds.

I have a Buckmark. It's a great pistol, the stock trigger is phenomenal and it feeds anything I put in it, plus it's super easy to maintain. Here's a video I did with my Buckmark and my Mystic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUSsyVoaCRc&t=4m20s. I'd rather shoot my Spectre 2 on my Buckmark but the Mystic is damn quiet and it worked well as my only can for a while.

Thanks for the video and comments. Have you come across any guns that have given you a problem with the Mystic?
Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
To be honest I've only used the Mystic on my Glock and my Buckmark. I recently got a Spectre 2 so that has taken it's rightful place as my resident .22 can. I will tell you that the P22 that I have is a jam fest. Whether it's ammo or mag related I'm not sure (I've been using Federal Auto Match). From a fresh cleaning it went about 25 rounds then it seemed like it jamed ever other shot. May get a SR22 to replace it.

My Ruger SR22 and Ruger 22/45 MKIII LITE work great suppressed.

I do as well.AlabamaPaul wrote:I endorse this comment...Killerapplesauce wrote:My vote is for the Ruger mark 3.
Drop in a VQ trigger and extractor, and replace the hammer bushing with a Mark 2 to get rid of the mag disconnect and it's a sweet ride.

Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
I have the Ruger+Volquartsen 22/45 Lite, S&W M&P 22 Compact, a Glock 27 with a Advantage Arms .22lr conversion, and a .22lr AR15 pistol I built with spare parts. They are all fun to run suppressed. Can't beat the 22/45 for a dedicated .22 suppressed host. The M&P Compact is a good trainer for the M&P Shield.

Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
I like Walther still kicking myself for passing up on a couple German made ones a while back. But the new PPK .22 has a horrible double action. I would love to get a hold of a Smith & Wesson M&P 22, I have heard nothing but good thing about them.jlwilliams wrote:I'll buck the trend and say it. PPk 22. Because - Bond.....James Bond

Absolutely. You would be better off with a feg copy than you would with a new one and I should have qualified my recommendation with "not a current Umarex one"

Smith and Wesson 41 with either a Bully Barrel, Clark Barrel, or new EWK
version of the Brandes Bully barrel would be another good candidate.

Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
I have a Tac Sol Pac Lite upper on a 22/45 MkIII lower with the Tandem Kross bushing and it is a great shooter. It eats all of the decent subsonic ammo I've tried in it plus the high velocity stuff. It stays clean enough for 500+ rounds without a hiccup.

Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
I'd recommend any Ruger MkIII tapped for a sight rail so you can put a mini red dot on it. With the Mystic you won't be able to use your iron sights and I don't think anyone makes suppressor sights for any 22 pistols besides 1911 conversion kits (assuming the kit will take standard 1911 sights).
Re: Choosing a 22lr pistol for suppressor
Another vote for the Paclite. I've owned/used pretty much all the .22's on the market, it's still my favorite.
