Can length VS Length Listed on Form 1

How vital is it that a Form 1 can length matches what is listed on the form?

ie: I listed 7" but can turns out to be closer to six or closer to 8.

Correct but you can not have the form amended to a LONGER length, you can only amend a shorter length.

Longer length equals increased performance in the eyes of the ATF and requires a new stamp.


OP - File the form for the LONGEST length you think it will end up and if it is shorter simply write a letter to the ATF and ask them that the NFRTR be updated to reflect the correct length of the can.

Well I just had a form amended for this reason, the weapons specialist ( which is what the NFA branch called them I believed) called me after they received my letter and told me to resubmit a paper form 1 and the would cancel my previous form and transfer the tax to the new form. It was pretty simple.

Your can ended up being longer or shorter than the originally filed Form 1?

Damn I knew that would bring a lot of questions I tried deleting it before that lol. but yes they amend it for longer. The specialist was named Janis Fields. They told me they would transfer the tax to the new form 1 I sent in.
