LMT M203 mount options?

Post by AKDOC »

Looking at possibly getting an LMT m203. I really like the look of the barrel mounted version but people always seem to say get the rail mounted. I will probably leave it on one rife most of time so quick change doesn't really concerns me. Does anybody have one of either type that can give me first hand info. How good is the lockup on the barrel mount version? Is it hard to attach. Thanks.

I own a LMT's rail mounted M203 on a LMT MRP.
My two cents....
#1 the rail mounted version is easy to remove when not in use,
a big plus when you want to drop the weight of your weapon.
#2 a standard barrel mount M203 makes a more compact weapon system
as a rail mounted M203 hangs lower when mounted.

Thanks for the info. Im leaning more toward barrel mounted because I don't have a lot of uppers with rails and I kinda like the classic look more too.

Barrel mounted in better on my opinion...

I had a rail mounted one, that I shot quite a lot and bent a few rails, included a Larue and a couple of other reputable companies....

I ended up selling the rail mounted one and buying a barrel mounted one.

No issues there, and as I said, I shoot it quite a lot!

Cool again thanks for some info. I take it you like yours if you shoot it that much. What do you shoot mostly Chalk, Smoke, caliber adapters?

I roll my own of everything pretty much (short of HE of course).

I do my own chalks (bought a ton! of used zinc pushers) and paint them orange. I manage to retrieve them at least 2/3 of the time.

I also do my own cones. I do my own flares, parachutes, etc...

I love the large riot rubber rounds.

I have a 22 beehive as well (18 22lr shots)

There are buckshot rounds, flechette rounds, etc...

Head over to Grog's 40mm forum.

There are a lot of very knowledgeable people there, and Grog's help and molds have been invaluable to my 40mm enjoyment.
