How do you clean up after using ant-seize?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

How do you clean up after using ant-seize?

Post by hardcase »

I purchased a can of anti-seize from the local auto parts store to use on stubborn parts of my boosters.

The applicator/dauber that came in the can of anti-seize was way to big for my needs and I ended up using my fingers. My hands look like the tin man from the Wizard of Oz, as does the outside of one of my cans. Cleaned my hands with soap and water but don't want to use this on the outside tube of my suppressors.

Any ideas??

WD40, then wipe with alcohol if you don't want it to smoke on your next range trip.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

And don't forget you're face, ears, and maybe your butt. Because you probably rubbed and scratched unconsciously in the process.

I put water on the inside of my suppressors ... I don't see the big deal about water on the outside.

I tried the wet rag. It isn't the water part but the soap part. I suppose I could oil it like I do my black powder rifle after it is cleaned though with soap and water.

I'll have to try the WD-40 and alcohol (if a little bit of Jack Daniel's counts :D ), or the starting ether seems like a good idea too. I have all the products on hand.

In my younger years, when I had more cash I used that Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber to clean up messes.
Now I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner and I buy it by the case.

This is the BEST hand cleaner I have EVER used.
Forget your brake cleaner, starting fluid, GOJO, etc. A quarter size bit will clean, pretty much, any amount of soiled hands. And, leave them lotioned, w/o that greasy, fragrant, girly feeling.
