50 Beowulf suppressed SBR

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

50 Beowulf suppressed SBR

Post by atc250r18 »

Thought it was time to share my projects that you guys helped out with. I'm mainly just a lurker while on deployment. I submitted for 9 stamps while I was deployed, ordered all the material and am finally getting some stuff built. Thanks for the inspiration and knowledge.

That's one great looking rifle.

You should record some video of it.

As soon as I get some more time I will. I forgot to record when I was testing loads.

Love to know some specs; length of barrel, length of suppressor, length of hand guard, direct thread or reflex design, overall length of gun?

Looks nice!

Sorry about the toe's, it's hot! The silencer is all 1.75"x .065 316 stainless 10" long, the blast baffle is plug welded to the end cap/blast chamber. the blast baffle is a dished/almost k-type face with offset scoops. Then there are 10 60 degree cones, the first 4 are spaced at 1" then progressively less toward the end cap. The unit is welded.....because I suck at threading anything > 1.5" apparently.

Very cool. I have an 50AE upper I have built and am waiting on a stamp. I filed for a 8" suppressor and hope it will be enough for some 500gr subs. Would you mind sharing your gas port size? I am thinking I want to make a 10.5ish" barrel for mine and am curious of port size. Should be close I would think. Thanks in advance.

.110" I also tried Trail Boss but the group was about....12" at 50 yards and would just cycle. AA5744 was awesome.

Thank you very much. I have mine at 1090fps with 19gr H110 and a 500gr. Its a full case, or whatever is left with that huge bullet, lol. I need to drop down to about 18.5gr I think so slow it down a little more. My bolt only catches every other round so I am going to cut the spring or try a lighter buffer on the 16" tube next. Trying to decide what length barrel Im going to do when I get my stamp. I am wanting to do a 10.5" I think.

titanium can 12 baffles / pistol length gas system

trail boss 100% fill with 500gr only gave me 950 - 980 fps

5744 left unburned power throughout rifle

Finally found a great load

I was able to get rid of the unburnt 5744 powder by using NATO primers, it was 300Blk tho, not 50Beo. Normal magnum primers should do the same. It's because 5744 has a coating on it that slows the burn down, and you gotta use the magnum (or NATO) flame to burn it off. If you're subsonic, it likely wont result in overpressure, but it will probably increase velocity due to more powder burn.

Drop you charge a little, and try magnum primers if your using 5744 in a subsonic application. Then work your charge back up.

That's exactly what I saw....Pretty much no unburnt powder in Blackout.

50 beo uses magnum primers standard

Even with light loads I had a lot of residue

I would think slow burning and subsonic are not the best match

I load with fast burning pistol powders so it burns before entering the suppressor, creates enough pressure to cycle, and is very clean

Have you tried Lil' Gun?

I use it for heavy bullet subs in 500 S&W and 458 Socom with great results. Very clean.

Yes lil gun and 5 others

Lil gun does not give me a satisfactory case fill......if you've ever had an SEE you will be super careful

As we know many powders including trail boss work but won't cycle
