It has a lead slug in a brass reduced base casing. So not caseless.T-Rex wrote:I was thinking some type of caseless munition.Tony M. wrote:Looks like either the descendant of a Maynard type cartridge, or a needlefire.
Pingun or needlefire seem on track. It's not Rimfire and can't see an exposed primer. So firing pin must puncture primer inside of head.

whiterussian1974: No internal primer or are you still going around in circles.
Grounded: I would think its a type of proportional control.
1) is this of historical importance as far as the craft it was used in.

does this belong on a Sikorsky? is the one side up top a v-band? not sure it can still be called modern with that clock, maybe if it were wifi enabled lcd screen it could make its way back into being modern art category, but as-is, a relic.Grounded wrote:Here is my submission and I can guarantee with almost 100% certainty you won't get it Ignore the clock as that was only a recent addition to make it into a piece of modern art for our office.

This was the original chambering built in the mid 1860's of this historical weapon.
Last clue for what weapon this cartridge fits. https://youtu.be/Y7lmAc3LKWM

Capt.
Maybe some breechloading conversion of a muzzle loader, that still used caps for igniting the blackpowder charge in the case.
The hole is the transfer port for the flame.
I'll be back with more.

Still no correct answer.
The bottom, against the welding table, is open ended to accept "parts".
This is another one I'm building. The other one is in the field being used/tested.

It could "house" any # of things. W/o seeing the parts, it'll be mighty tough to guess its precise function.T-Rex wrote:My bad. No moving parts.
Obviously it involves centripital force. Whoether air or liquid is unknown. Oil, fuel, hydraulic fluid, etc. If it doesn't power (b/c no moving parts) then probably a filter.
We need to see it installed or the internal parts.
