Hi Everyone,
I am trying to debate my next SBR which I want to get submitted before July 41P implementation. I am debating between three different possibilities and hoping with some help, I can narrow it down so I can get the project underway. Right now I have 3 SBRs. I have a PS-90 which is currently pending, I have a CZ Scorpion and a 300 BLK AR. Pictures of my current two in hand provided for eye candy and to aid in consideration. So the three I am thinking about are as follows:
1- An AR 9mm lower: Joe Bob Outfitters has a Glock mag compatible billet 9mm lower I am thinking that I would like to SBR. Since a suppressed 9mm is very enjoyable to shoot, I am thinking this would be a good host and I have never owned a 9mm AR. This would allow me to just buy lower and submit form 1 before July without significant upfront investment which is crucial as I have a vacation coming up and can't invest too much right off the bat.
2- A AR lower: I would choose a nice AR lower to SBR and use it for multiple uppers. Likely 5.56 to start. I do already have a AR lower SBRed but its really a dedicated set up as seen below and the burnt bronze finish I went with prevents me from doing a lot of swapping around. This AR lower would be left black and would be used with multiple uppers.
3- Some sort of AK SBR: I would likely choose an affordable AK pistol and SBR that. I always liked the looks of a short AK and would need some guideance in this choose as far as what model to go with to SBR. It would have to be semi affordable (IE less than $850 for the pistol) in order to fit into my budget with the time constraints I face.
So what do you think? Of these three, which should I consider my next project? I have suppressors that could be used on any of the three choices.
Thanks
Jason

I'd do an AR lower as it has the most versatility. I love my QC10 9mm AR, but you already have a Scorpion, so a little redundant. AK piston would not be my first choice to suppress and you can do a 7.62 x 39 AR upper anyway. I've considered SBR on a AR lower that uses AK magazines so I could build multiple uppers and have DI.
AR lower can end up anything from 22lr, 5.7, 9mm, 45ACP, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8, even 458 Socom.

For option one, you will need to use a matching upper with LRBHO capability builtin if that is important to you. If not, any AR 15 upper can be used.

A .458socom makes a great SBR and built on the standard AR-15 lower. You need to handload for it but you''ll have a pack howitzer for hunting deer or a CQB tool that demands respect.
The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

I would recommend SBRing a standard AR lower if it were me but I'm not an AK fan.
I would think the AR lower to have the most versatility if you didn't want to submit anything after july

Re: Help Pick Next SBR
I would suggest a 12.5" 6.8 AR based SBR. Is the most power you can put into a supersonic suppressed SBR and still be usable in a confined space. Good for hunting up to 250 yards of so with Hornady 120 gr SSTs.
A 12.5" 308 based SBR is spectacular for sure, but even with a very good 308 suppressor like the Silencerco 7.62 Specwar the concussion is fierce!

The lower is a Joe Bob Outfitters Spartan Billet lower and the upper is a Crosshill Technologies XSR2-15 side charging upper.jnutz19 wrote:man what kind of upper and lower is that on your 300 blk sbr?

Re: Help Pick Next SBR
I opted for the 9mm sbr route. Already had a standard lower so I went with the glock mag spartan lower. Cheap to shoot and let's just say mine will be special as it won't be blowback.

Now debating M92 PAP or Draco..... I can't decide!! (Going to do a AR lower too but wouldn't build it till later)

I'm waiting on my AR and just put a Scorpion on layaway, my next one will most likely be an SBS. dont forget about the grandfather clause on the new rules that will apply if you have recently had an approval.

Ok, Tonight I bought a M92 Pap and a YHM billet lower. Hopefully they will both show late next week and this time next Friday I will have both form 1s submitted.

I got my Mpap last Friday and got that form 1 underway
Got the form 1 submitted on the YHM lower today. Now to start picking parts and then wait

Be careful with what you post. While the use of the carbine buffer in and of itself doesn't make that an SBR, the possession of a stock that can fit on it could be construed to add up to an unregistered SBR. Again, the likelihood of this happening is slim, but for the cost of a pistol buffer tube you would have some piece of mind. Regardless, I don't know that I would be posting pictures of this on the web if I were you.

Nevermind. You know what they say about arguing with people on the internet.

The YHM lower is pretty nice looking, I have never gone for billet lowers because of the weight but if it says YHM on it I think it adds an extra pound . I have a few of their rails and a few brakes, their stuff is nicely made, usually its heavy because of the materials they choose of their way of reducing machining processes. Good choices though, cant wait to see progress. I'm doing the same thing here soon, got my Scorpion and AR SBRs already, now just need to get an AK and my HK91 SBR I have always wanted. I shot a Select fire SBR HK in Germany during the German Infantry Q course, it was brutal but I loved it. Now I want one before I get too old to shoot it.

I just got my paperwork back for my Arsenal 107ur sbr. I put Tula wood grips on it with a triangle stock, and it works better than Viagra when you really want to blow your lady away or male.her walk funny for a day or so. I just take a look at her and it works just as good or better than Viagra.
