Hey guys,
I had done a couple freeze plug suppressors in the past and after buying a 8x16" grizzly and putting a couple dozen hours tinkering on it and ruining expensive bar stock I was ready to cut out some K baffles.
The Ti tube and caps are premade solvent trap parts that I modified by turning down the OD on the front portion to get rid of the dimples on the front cap, I guess I like the stepped look, too.
The Ks are cut from 303 SS, pretty forgiving material for a novice. Cuts like butter with the right tool and held firmly in a mini lathe. I had to get a proper live center featuring bearings, because the one it came with was a plain hardened steel one. I bought a beefy 2" spinny live center for like $20 on amazon and that probably improved this lathe more than the hundreds I've spent on other tooling.
The tube ID is 1.355" x 7.6", the bores are drilled with a 13/32" bit and then cleaned up with a tiny round file.
I used a 3/8" ball mill for the vents and mouse holes. No dater hole, though I would be willing to add it if it actually works to decrease backpressure. Was getting spit on pretty good running cheap 147gn through my 92 Centurion.
The blast chamber is as large as it is to accommodate a muzzle brake with acme threads. The rear cap is threaded to fit multimount and liberty devices, so it's pretty versitile. I have a 3 lug, a booster and a brake mount.
It performs pretty well, but I think it should do better. Should I touch up the vents/mouse holes with a bigger ball mill? Add little holes to the bottoms of the skirts opposite the vents?
Here's some pics.
Built a K into the front cap
ETA: the Ks have a cone and wall thickness of 0.05" +/- a few thousands, the faces are thicker. It weighs 16.18oz without the mounts so it's pretty beefy.

Great looking build.
Can't help on the mouse holes, I'm not that smart on them yet.

Thanks!
Yeah it was an interesting project, lots of research and I still probably screwed up plenty.
With the 38s I'm getting a high frequency hiss coming out of the can with each shot, the 9mms were quieter so idk if it's a volume thing, and ammo thing or a crap K thing.

Re: Finished my first K baffle can
For clarification, I believe mouse holes were located at the far end of the skirt. Think a Tom and Jerry cartoon where the wall meets the floor. I don't think most suppressor manufacturers include them in their designs anymore, but I could be wrong. The hole you are referring to is called a Dater (could be misspelled) Hole. If not mistaken, it was only drilled into in the first K-baffle past the firearm muzzle and opposite the waste vent cut. As I recall the purpose was to reduce first round pop (FRP). Some will argue that a blast chamber equal to the length of the first baffle is more effective. This applies to rim fire 22s only as high pressure rounds require a blast chamber from .25 to .375 the length of the suppressor. Take it with a grain of salt as I am not an expert on suppressor design. Sure wish I were though.

If it were mine I'd chop down that blast chamber & add another K.
Can't really see from the pictures but the scoop on the face looks to be minimal/not there. From what i can see from those pics it looks like you just put a notch in the nose but not a scoop. Does yours look similar to this?

Yeah I didn't really get good pictures of the scoops did I. They're pretty deep, about. .05" or so from popping out the back of the face cone, if that makes any sense, same with the other plunge cut coming in from the back. Im out of town for 2 weeks workin, when I get home I will take better pics. I was having trouble getting my phone to focus in that lighting.
As far as the blast chamber goes, I had to make it that larger to accommodate a muzzle brake on my handi rifle. I'd have loved to fit another K in there, though.
Still wondering about widening the scoops from 3/8th" to 13/32" or even 1/2" if there would be a performance increase. I can also increase the face profile depth a little bit towards the outside, before the scoops start.
