Do you feel lead hitting your face?
When you shoot suppressed, do you feel lead hitting your face? When I shoot my 22 suppressor out of my browning 1911 22, I literally feel pieces of lead hit my face after EVERY shot. Normal? Get a new host?
Re: Do you feel lead hitting your face?
I bought a S&W Victory, and was getting hit in the face with something nearly every shot. I hadn't had that much of a problem with the Ruger I was using prior to that, but the Victory seems to leave a channel open straight to your face past the bolt.
When I asked on the S&W forum, they immediately guessed that I was using dirty Remington ammo, and they were right. I tried some Gemtech, and have almost no problem with that.
The host and ammo both make a difference.
Cheers,
Rusty

Shouldn't be lead. Powder residue is much more likely.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.
Re: Do you feel lead hitting your face?
I agree that unburnt powder is most likely what you're being peppered with.Fulliautomatix wrote:Shouldn't be lead. Powder residue is much more likely.
Always wear safety glasses when shooting, and try changing ammunition.

I'm using CCI standard velocity. That's the best right? Tried federal and felt like I was in a sandstorm.
Re: Do you feel lead hitting your face?
I use CCI Standard, as well as other supersonic ammunition in a Ruger .22/45 and Browning Buckmark.
What gun and suppressor are you using?

Browning 1911 22 4.25 inch barrel and an Element 2 suppressor
Re: Do you feel lead hitting your face?
Sorry, you did mention the Browning in your original post.
If you search this forum for "element blowback", you'll find similar reports.
I'd contact AAC about it.

Re: Do you feel lead hitting your face?
Thanks mbogo. Gonna try a different host - one with a shorter barrel. Maybe that'll be better (or worse). Who knows.

You're welcome. I am still learning myself.

Mbogo. Switched to a PPK/S host. Most quiet host I've ever heard. ZERO blowback / splash back. Video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BILv5TIADU9 ... by=djleejd
Re: Do you feel lead hitting your face?
which ppk did you use the new one or a real walther? I want to buy one of the new ones to replace my p22 but am concerned about the quality.

Very nice, Joker!
Is that an aftermarket threaded barrel?
