Illinois gun confiscation law effective in Jan 2017

Big Brother creation of 2017

A new Illinois law goes into effect in a few days, where if a domestic protection order is issued, then Illinois rescinds the person's FOID card--their license to own firearms.

The Illinois State Police is setting up an automated system to immediately notify the local city police or county sheriff of the FOID card being rescinded, and that they are authorized to go to the person's home and seize all their guns.

My take: many domestic protection orders are valid because of physical threats and stalking. However, many other domestic protection orders are also fake in that they are automatically sought when a marriage separation or divorce begins--as anger or revenge and to get more from the divorce/separation. In Illinois, that is going to cost the 2nd Amendment rights of people in the anger/revenge category. That is unjust and unfair, unless the person violates the domestic protection order, they should not lose their RKBA. IMHO
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.

So this trashes the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 9th Amendment rights. Well done. We need a civil war.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.

A similar Bill was passed this year in ct. Your guns & ammunition will be seized upon having a temporary restraining order filed against you. The state argues that your due process isn't violated because they try to expedite your court case.

Having lived in Illinois for most of my life, the only advice I can give is to LEAVE...
Best darn thing that I ever did.

CT has something like this. It's not uncommon for it to be abused.

If a guy values his guns, and losing them will hurt him, aaaand playing the "he scares me" card is going to weigh the settlement scales once the property and custody negotiations begin; you know what she's going to say.
