They are all equally quiet in the safe.
If you meant to ask which 5.56 and 30 cal cans provide the most suppression then first I refer you back to the second post in this thread and second I ask more questions.
Sub-sonic or full power ammo?
SBR or >16" barrel or >18" barrel?
Semi-auto or bolt?
Don't think the ammo and the host don't have anything to do with suppression.

I'd also ask quietest to who? A machine that measures sound, the shooter, someone near by, etc.
High pitched noise dosnt travel as far, but sounds far less pleasent to hear up close.
Also what rate of fire, how much does the first round pop matter to you?

It's not a silencer, it's a can of whoopass!

Re: What are the absolute quietest 5.56 and 30 cal cans?
Generally speaking, "quietest" is not really a good criteria for buying cans.
There are cans out there that on a computer are more quiet than others... so according to science you can measure it. That being said, this doesn't transition to what the shooter hears. People "hear" sound different than a machine, and it also varies person to person.
Add in backpressure and how a weapon is configured, it changes. Add in different types of ammo, it changes.
One can with one type of ammo on one gun may sound COMPLETELY different than the same can on a different gun, with different ammo.
Then toss in the time it was fired. Environmental conditions can play a huge role as well.

And that's not even taking into consideration quietest on which host weapon.
Subs.
Supers.
single shot
automatic
Question is too vague and there is no "right" answer for it.

Doing side by side comparisons on the same day with a meter is going to give you the best data you can get about the cans used. There are tone differences in cans but the db #'s at the ear are what I believe make the biggest difference. I don't have enough experience with many different cans to give a good answer but in the few 556/30 cans I've tested (omega, hybrid, curx and oss) the oss is the best but numbers are very close with all except the crux.
Re: What are the absolute quietest 5.56 and 30 cal cans?
Go to sites like Silencerco that posts their ratings. Generally, a larger can works better.
Get a can that has replaceable end caps, and you'll squeeze out a little better noise suppression.
Choices are about trade-offs. You are trading weight for suppression.. Or weight and volume for suppression.. or vice versa. and of course, sometimes you are trading durability and ability to do rapid fire...
Want quieter- go larger. Go with a 7.62 can... or a .46. Because of cans like the Hybrid, be sure to check out the pistol cans too..
For instance, the Hybrid is currently under the pistol section, although it makes a good rifle can as well. Most dedicated 5.56 cans are not as quiet; the K cans are really a compromise for smaller; again trading suppression ( & volume ) for smaller size.
For example, If you are never going to use over .308, from silencerco, I'd choose omega or saker asr ..
If I was going to abuse the can- saker asr ( or the Specwar- but they don't make them anymore )
If I wanted something more general purpose- Hybrid..
If I was a hunter only- hybrid or harvester.

I dont know if its the absolute quietest can but look at the Rugged Suppressors Surge 7.62. It can be used on .308, 300 Black Out, .223/5.56. It can be used full length or shortened by the end user. It has interchangeable end caps for .30 caliber and .223/5.56 as well as the appropriate flash hider or muzzle brake, your choice, for each of those calibers.

No one seems to be giving you straight answers, so I will
For 30cal, I have an SWR Omega that was made in 2001. It is threaded 5/8-24. I use it on a Savage 10/FLP and with a thread adapter, on a Diamondback AR-15 clone. I put full-throttle 223 and 308 through it. Supersonic crack out the ass, but when you consider the bullet is moving away from you at M2.5+, the bullet noise gets far away in a hurry. The sound will be perceived as coming from downrange. Very pleasant.
Oh, if I put 20 rounds of 308 through it in under 15 minutes, there will be visible convection currents. It will get that frigging hot. What would have been sound pressure, was turned into thermal energy...

Do you really think this thread was worth reviving? Op didn't even reply once to the questions he was asked, and this thread is from january.

Yes.
I'll reply to whatever I feel like replying to without asking permission.
Oh, the OP may have disappeared but there are others who lurk (as I did for a long time) who will read it.

The quietest can is a custom built Form-1 Can with HUGE internal volume, and 1,000 baffles, made of 1" thick steel.
Super quiet... but not really practical...
Besides... The quietest comercial-made suppressor you can buy TODAY, will likely improved upon before your Form 4 comes back.
