X-Mas Cheer Special Run 10th anniversary/Lunchbox Gun 2019

Post by Sredrum »

On 11-15-08 a member on this forum wrote a post asking 3 (Trey) if the Christmas spirit could move him to sell bare lower receivers. And the post exploded with responses. One day later 3 responded that he would make it happen. Just to set the stage, Obama had just won the election on the 4th of November and guns, parts, ammo and etc were flying off the shelf.

At that time Kac didn’t sell bare lowers and anything Kac made was in demand. The GWOT was in full swing and Kac was busy with MIL/GOV orders. So it’s very fair to say 3 was going out of his way to make this happen. Everything from getting them finished in a short period of time to the paperwork that goes with firearms.

And back then nobody knew just how special it would become. Guys were just happy to get a Kac lower receiver that was laser engraved in a unique way. And the following year another Special Run was made. Members who still had their lower receiver got dibs on purchasing a upper receiver with an integrated rear sight.

Next came the ejection port cover. This wasn’t an official part made by Kac. Neil a member of the OG Cheer group asked Kac for permission to use the Kac logo on the port covers. He was granted permission and made them available to only members who still had their lower and upper receivers.

Then the LWURX rail was made available for the OG group. A very limited production rail, used only on the Magpul Dynamics rifle package and the Cheer guns. A total of 150 was made. 100 for the MP/Kac rifle package and 50 for the OG Cheer group.

Lastly barrels were made for the OG members. Only to the original OG who still had all their parts and proved it in pictures. If any parts were sold that member was out. Not just standard E3 barrels but dimpled barrels. In a sbr version that was never released to the public at 11.5”long. And a 16” version similar to the Magpul Dynamics rifle but was still unique to the Special Run Cheer guns.

Late 2008 Lower receiver,just over 50 released
Late 2009 Upper receiver,under 50 released
Julyish 2010 Cheer port cover, unknown but between 30-45 I was told
Late 2010 LWURX rail,50 released
Juneish 2012 Dimpled barrels,21 in 11.5”and 6 in 16”. Also the 11.5” barrels came with chrome E3 bolts.

Pictures...wish I had the time to size them so I could post them up without links but I can’t do that on my phone so check out the links.

And if you have a Cheer gun or parts or even a story post it up!

On the KAC Facebook group and AR15.com Kac forum. There was new “lists” selected for each site for a 2nd round of the Cheer program. Reed Knight III gave it the approval! Can’t wait to see what it turns into! Thank you 3 for making this happen again on the 10 year anniversary!

What is the KAC group on Facebook? I've only found the KAC page and Operation Parts, but no groups. Thanks.

Don’t believe so. Not that it makes you feel better but your not the only OG that missed out. Ryo also missed out for example. This go around where guys were signing up to get on the list was crazy! Was a free for all and the door opened and closed in hours on Facebook. 99 spots on that list.

After that 3 decided to make a list on AR15.com. Jack L gave a heads up that there was gonna be an announcement at a certain time. That list took only like two minutes to fill. 50 spots on the AR15.com list.

Total of 149 spots between both list. 3 came up with a Kac/Cadillac logo for the new Cheer run. He posted a picture of the logo and looks like it’s on a SR25 upper receiver. But I’m not 100% sure on that. Later maybe this week I can try and put a picture up of the logo.

New update. I’m beyond stoked! Looks like a complete receiver set. Looks like the trigger/trigger guard and charging handle is included. Vero Beach as well.

Update...list holders on FB Kac group and ARF were contacted. Provided a PDF file to fill out with info including FFL info. Believe once all the list holders are put into the system a email will be sent to double check for errors. After that it’s payment time. Then once paid in full the receiver sets will be sent to the FFL’s. Wheel is definitely turning!

Good to see another OG (aggiez28) found this post. Yeah there hasn’t been much new lately but looks the the first 50 receiver sets and actual lunchbox are close to being done and ready for dealers. No idea where I’ll fall in line or when I’ll get my set. But will update this post as things happen. Will try and post a picture link. It’s getting real!

I guess I need to put up some photos of mine. The upper is going on another SBR lower, the lower is going to be my CMP Service Rifle.

Cool do put some pictures up when you get time. Off that subject a friend told me yesterday he received a email about the new LB rifle. So looks like he’s in the first group. I on the other hand haven’t heard anything so think my wait will continue.

New update....
Looks like the 149 members on the Lunchbox list will be broken up in three groups. First group of what sounds like 50 members from what I’ve heard received emails with a invoice to pay for their LB receiver kit.
Some have got tracking numbers so the wheel is turning. I wasn’t one of the lucky guys to get into the first group but as pictures come out I’ll update this post with them.
It’s hard telling how long before the 2nd group of LB receivers will be ready but I’m taking a guess at 2-4 months. Pictures to follow in probably a week or so as guys post them.

New update

Got an email from Knights Armament today. Was a bill for Lunchbox #65, so I called and paid today.

First LB group was 1 to 50

Assume second group is 51 to 99 or 100

Think the third and final group will be in April timeframe.

After that it’s gonna be cool to see what Trey (3) comes up with. Bcg in a thermos? What barrel and rail is made available?

When I receive mine LB receiver kit I’ll post pictures, kinda been waiting for that anyways.
