3013happyshop is who I purchased it from.
A buddy from work bought one also, they told him shipping would take 2-3weeks but our orders arrived same day. He purchased it from bigbigworld700 same for price.
30-45 days till new shipment arrives

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on their stores.

Hard_ware, I really hope you don't mind that I keep posting in your thread.
EDIT: Wrong lathe.

No problem.
That’s a 220v 50hz, not sure if it’s an issue as they have a dc motor .
Man I am really enjoying my 8x16.
You will have to do some mods but for such a small lathe it works great.
Drilled holes to adjust compound without unscrewing it.
Under 10 minutes turning.
Currently working on a 22lr form1 build.

Ah, didn't notice the specs on the motor. Was really looking at the spindle bore.
Your parts are looking good!
You should start a lathe upgrade thread showing everything you have done. I'd very interested in seeing everything.

Ok, here we go. Instead of searching eBay for the TS-210, I used bing and found a link to an eBay seller. Out of stock though. Different seller than the other two listed.
TS-210
Using the gears it shows it comes with and an online calculator, it shows you can get this out of them.
If you get rid of the 33 and add in a 34, you get this.
Website I used.
Change Gear
I used "Other Lathe" and inputted the 2mm lead screw and follow gears available.
24,30,33,40,50,52,60,66,72,80,84
Does this look right?

To use a calculator you need to have a 56 tooth starting gear.
The ratio will be 56/c x d/e, a and f are not used but a small gear needs to fill the space. The b gear (idler) won’t matter as the size you need will be dictated by the gap you need to fill between gear c and the 56 tooth spindle gear.
http://bilar.co.uk/cgi-bin/change-gear-calculator.pl
Use a 2mm lead screw.
Only results with a 56t starting gear can be used, so look for that in the results after you run it.
This has worked best to find new gear combos for me.
Keep in mind just cause you have a combo doesn’t mean it will fit physically.
Imperial threads are only needed to match a barrel (or some other part you need to match), all other threads needed can be cut metric. Like .5mm close to 50tpi, .75mm ~38tpi , 1mm~ 25tpi, 1.5mm ~19tpi , 2mm ~ 12tpi. Just line up start point and lock the half nut and away you go.
If cutting mainly Imperial threads it’s best to change the leadscrew as reversing or lining up starting marks on headstock and leadscrew are a PIA vs just engaging the halfnuts anytime.

I didn't know that the spindle gear was included in the gear change calculations.
When using the "other lathe" in the link I posted and inputting the gears I have available for my mini lathe, I end up with the same answer.
My main reason for picking up a bigger lathe is so I can thread all of my barrels. If I can find an imperial lead screw and the half nut to go with it, it'll be on the top of my list of things to do. Maybe....seeing how the gear change calculator shows how close it can get with the supplied gears. Right now, it is just a pipe dream until I can find one.

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru
The mini lathe has a gear in position A linked thru an idler gear to spindle.
This lets you change A/B ratio easy, you can also reverse the lead screw rotation as well with a lever to engage a forward or reverse idler gear.
The 8x16 doesn’t have this option, lead screw follows the spindle.
May be possible to add a gear to reverse lead screw for left hand threads but I haven’t tried it yet.
28.015 is 28tpi. Keep in mind .015 is not 15 thousands.
It’s .015 of width of 1 thread, slop and improper depth of cut can cause out of spec threads way more then the .015 of a single thread due to gears.
More experienced lathe operators will know more and can pass on if this is an issue, but that’s how I see it.

For old lathes such as Southbends or Atlas 618, etc, a reverse gear set withHard_ware wrote:The mini lathe has a gear in position A linked thru an idler gear to spindle.

handle is supplied. Allows for left hand threading ...start from head stock to tail stock.

Happy chip making.
Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru
I ran across a clear presentation on the geometry of a tumbler gear
reversing mechanism operation on old lathes.
<< http://www.navodayaengg.in/wp-content/u ... ture15.pdf >>
I marvel at the ingenuity of the first person over one hundred years ago
who imagined a function he wanted, looked at the lathe operation, and
then with intuitive sense of analytic geometry configured 3 gears to
perform action.

Perfect!
That will reverse leadscrew by adding a gear if needed.
Since the gear on the top shaft is just an idler gear the dual gear setup could be made to fit.
The amount of teeth won’t matter as it’s a tooth per tooth rotation 1:1.
Only ratio of the first and last gear in a sequence matter.
Even provides an easy way to disconnect spindle from lead screw without pivoting gear assembly out of contact with spindle.
Thanks!

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru
Nice!
Here is a program that can be setup for most lathes.
The changejs.zip has a program called change wheels.
You can add your model of lathe and the gears you have or a range you want to check.
http://www.myvirtualnetwork.com/mklotz/
I added the mx-210v. The gear pic is reversed side to side.
Added a 27T gear accuracy for imperial very improved.
.0001mm off I don’t think that can be measured with low end calipers.
When cutting imperial it takes 10” of travel to return to zero marks 254mm.
Just an FYI if disengaging leadscrew.

Finally, they are back in stock in the US.
Get one while you can.
Too bad there isn't any deals going on through eBay.

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru
Just as I am looking at the HF 7x12- this thread shows up!!
I really like the 1.5 bore diameter- (but I don’t have any machining experience or tools to modify like Hard_Ware did) so should I jump to this lathe or settle on the HF 7x12? It seems the 7x lathes have a lot of support through videos - my much needed training wheels!!
Thoughts?

I'd get this one. Much more you can grow into versus the HF. I am sure it will work fine out of the box. If not, I'd be willing to help you if you need anything.
Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru
And a few days later....
Started taking it apart to clean it up. I think I am going to save all of the oil that comes off of it and do an oil change on my lawn mower. Holy smokes is it bathed in oil.
Surprised it has roller bearings in the head. They made some noise and squealed some, so they'll get replaced.
Hard_ware, did your three jaw have a plate on the back of it covering the internals? Mine didn't and there is some rust on the inside. Even though I know it needs cleaned up too, it is VERY hard to move the jaws in and out.

I have a NIB 6" 4 jaw to use as well as a piece of cast iron round stock to make an adapter out of, but I still plan to use the 3 jaw when doing high speed work.

The spindle itself is probably worth it. When I get it polished up and put back together, I'll know more. It is going to need some TLC to get it running right.

That sort of capacity would be great in a benchtop lathe! Does it appear to be built heavy enough that it might benefit from a beefier motor?
The myopic majority will be our republic's undoing.
