It's a pity that we can't "try before we buy."
This is an example why buying from dealer stock can provide a margin of certainty.

1st 2 are going to be loud no matter what, due to ejection port noise. Try it on a bolt gun.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: Huntertown 762 Kestrel can home
Even the 9 was loud?
Thanks for the honest report, the can was a neat idea.

There was whole write up on it some where . Bad tube if I recall right or might have been being a tight ass and buying the cheapest thing on the market.

A quality dealer should have a demo unit of just everything he sells / stands behind.whiterussian1974 wrote:It's a pity that we can't "try before we buy."

Are there only 3 cones? If so and you can shoot 9mm through it, no wonder it's so loud.
Maybe the loose tolerance is to compensate for low quality materials?
That burst tube pic is truly disturbing.

White, It has 4 baffles . http://www.k2firearms.com/762Rifle/762.html

Corvett , we need to know more on that KB pic you posted http://s159.photobucket.com/user/mustan ... 3.jpg.html because something's not right. The baffles click together and protect the tube yet the 3 baffles shown look fine.
Where's the forth baffle ? Squib? Baffle strike? Loose cap? Plugged end? Looks very fishy and not fair to the manufacture.
We want the truth.

You will have to search for it. Someone sent me the link few months ago. Will search for it this weekend on work computer. Currently out of town.

The 5.56 version has 4 baffles...read the small print on the page you linked to.Emilio wrote:White, It has 4 baffles . http://www.k2firearms.com/762Rifle/762.html

From what I've seen, the rupture occurred along the 'beauty mark' they milled into the side of the can. Looks like the failure started at the threaded portion, where thrust and pressure were max for that section.
Its a toss up between poor design and poor execution as to the cause of the failure. I'd lean towards poor design, as HTA did some kind of 'free upgrade' for early .30 cal cans.

I see, strange they deleted a baffle.
Still wondering how the pressure got to the tube.

Re: Huntertown 762 Kestrel can home
i thought it was well known that HTA silencers were not terribly efficient?
Re: Huntertown 762 Kestrel can home
I thought it was well know also. Along with being heavy. Like voting, the info is out there but most don't bother looking. Anytime Hunterstown comes up I try to let people know what they are, but some just look at price and won't be convinced by facts.
