Tirant .45 using hollow points or shooting 10mm

Post by dixieandbacon »

So finally yesterday after 8 long months I got my stamp back for my tirant .45 and was able to pick it up :D :D :D :D :D . Well why I was filling out the paperwork one of the employees was telling me you couldn't shoot hollow points through the tirant he said that someone from the AAC told him that it was unsafe and could cause damage to the silencer. So I searched the forum last night and from what I have been reading it seems to be safe and causes no issues per AAC ? And also he said you could shoot 10mm in the tirant .45 and also I have read on here that this is not recommended per AAC? So both things he told was false information ? I know usually 75 % of what you hear in gunshops is not true and people repeat something someone told them one time and then it becomes fact. So I just wanted to double check. Also from what I have read ballistic tips and hollow points are safe in my sr7 rifle can as well right? Thanks

Perfectly fine to shoot defense ammo like hollow points through a silencer. Makes me wonder where LGS employees get their info sometimes.

However, 10mm is not supported by the Tirant 45. It's been asked a lot over the years.

The only ones I have been told not to use are fragmenting, and Glaser(frangible?) type projectiles.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

The gun shops were I live are some of the worse about being misinformed and the bad thing is people go there to seek knowledge and get incorrect information.

If you have enough water in a can to cause expansion of a bullet, the least of your worries is HP, or FMJ. ;-)

Those are all good to go. Subsonic 300 BLK is like +p 45acp also.

We do not recommend +p ammo. One problem it could cause is premature failure of the spring.

Ive emailed AAC about 10mm. Replied that "normal" commercial loads are good to go in my Ti Rant45. But Buffalo Bore and other high powered 10mm is not. Whole point of the 10mm for me is to have magnum power in an auto pistol so Ive never tried it.

I also emailed in asking if 10mm was allowed in the TiRant 45. I haven't received a reply, but it's only been a week so far.
