.22 Squib

Post by KingTiger »

This is the round I retrieved from my AAC Aviator after a squib. I've shot hundreds of the CCI subsonic, segmented HP's at critters for awhile. This one sounded different, it was the first shot & I could tell it didn't go down range. It was about 1/3 of the way down my suppressor & fell right out when I removed it from the barrel. The shell casing was very clean - there was no powder in the round from what I can tell. Just the primer & that's as far as it got.

Those are the only 2 marks on the bullet & it stayed intact (segmented) so it was going pretty slow.

I can't see any obvious damage to the Aviator inside. I was just wondering if I should give it a soak since it's sealed? I banged it on the counter a few times & nothing else fell out. :?:

Thanks for the non-response AAC.

Everything's fine, luckily. The entire bullet is intact along with its shape, so no baffle strike worries.
Weird incident, but rimfires don't exactly go through any quality controls. Hopefully you'll never encounter this again.
