Review: Innovative Arms Shepherd 45

Post by Fireman1291 »

Well this is the first centerfire pistol suppressor I've reviewed from Innovative Arms. I've already released videos on their centerfire rifle and rimfire cans with more in the works. This 45acp multi caliber suppressor had a very pleasing deep low tone to it and can be had at excellent street prices from dealers. As far as the video we were filming at a new location in a lime-rock quarry or what used to be one should I say.

My initial reaction was that the sound reflective surfaces weren't conducive to shooting a review for a suppressor. That was until I reviewed the footage and listened to the difference between the unsuppressed blast and echo and the suppressed echo and lack of muzzle blast. I edit and view all my videos with Beats by Dr. Dre studio head phones so I get the full color and depth of sound that would otherwise be lost to crappy built-in computer speakers. I highly suggest you watch the video with some sort of head phones and then watch again with your build-in speakers....the difference in the perceived sound is extreme. We record with high end powered microphones and camera gear with very specific audio settings that took a long time to perfect. The result is a very accurate representation of the tone in real life. Note: We change the camera angle for the "wet" shooting scenes to give the audience a better look at the gasses leave the muzzle. The microphone, however, never moves during the entire video and is placed on a tripod 1 meter to the right of the muzzle for the unsuppressed, suppressed dry and suppressed wet scenes.

You will hear bullet impact in some scenes as the bullet slams into the rock wall 100 yards away and the fact you can hear the bullet impact over the gunshot is a good indicator on the suppressors performance. Well, thats enough from me, enjoy the video!

Another good review.

Sidenote, I watch youtube on my tv (70" Sharp Aquios) with the surround sound going thru my stereo. I thought something was tapping on my porch till I realized that it was coming from your video. The sound and picture quality of your videos is always improving. Keep up the good work.
