Ti-Rant 45 (45 ACP piston)

Can anyone tell me the salient differences between the regular .578x28 and .578x23 Flush (1911) pistons?
Is it purely cosmetic (literally sits up against the crown of the muzzle and does nothing extra) or does it perform some specific
function on 1911 style pistols, that the regular piston does not?

I ask because I have 1911 45's and non-1911 45's and would prefer to not have to buy two different pistons
if I can get away with it.

This is for a Ti-Rant 45M.

Thanks

1911's do not have a guide rod that moves forward, so if you use the short piston it will be tighter to the slide and look better. I you want one piston for both style pistols then use the normal style.

Right on, I'm tracking now. I had all the information and experience to have figured that out all on my own....didn't. Thanks :)

The flush fit .578-28 piston also works really well on the FN FNX Tactical pistols, which have an unusually long threaded barrel.
