Which one?

Which .45 suppressor would you prefer: Griffin Resistance or Sig Sauer SRD45? Suppression is the most important consideration. Thanks.

I don't have either of those two. I have a YHM Cobra M2, Octane 45 HD, and currently awaiting approval for a Rugged Suppressors Obsidian 45. Have you looked at the Obsidian 45? It has some unique features and looks to be a top notch .45 suppressor.

I bought a .45 Liberty Cosmic that works well. I probably wouldn't pick it over any other quality can except the adapters and boosters are interchangeable with my Mystic. Adapters and boosters can get expensive.

It is more of a long thin can as opposed to a short fat can. I am able to use the sights on my two .45s to see and shoot reasonably accurately.

I don't have any experience with either of those cans either. I've had hands on with an Octane and Obsidian. Very happy with both of those.

Here's a list of what's out there right now.

From that summary, seems like the Sig and Resistance are still fairly new to the market so there aren't going to be a lot "in the wild' where people have had a chance to run them through their paces. But just on paper, I don't like pistol cans that you can't disassemble.

Doubloon, you have been doing this for awhile. What would you recommend? And thanks everybody for the info!

The performance leaders in this field really haven't changed much, my suggestions would be (alphabetically) AAC, Liberty, Silencerco and SWR.

Or, if you prefer, Miranda, Octane, Osprey and Tirant.

But that's just performance. Material, versatility, tone and aesthetics are all additional points to consider and for that I would listen to people who actually own them.

I have no idea of the availability on any of those cans.

Would you consider the Obsidian comprable to the Octane? Thanks again!

I don't know anything about the Obsidian, I haven't seen metered numbers published by anyone I trust and I do not trust manufacturer's numbers. Jesse James has a can he metered at ~75dB himself.

IF it performs as well as you tube and people with iPhone meters would have you believe then it's in the the same ballpark as the suppressors previously mentioned in terms of performance and maybe better than one or two on any given day depending on the circumstances.

But that's just performance, I don't know anything else about the can or the company behind it. One of the cans I previously mentioned is backed by a company who is going to go out of their way to repair a can that failed because somebody accidentally shot it with what looks like a 7.62 while it was laying on a bench. I don't mean shot 7.62 through it, I mean shot through it with a 7.62 ... sideways. The truth is every one of the companies previously mentioned has similar stories about standing behind their product and supporting customers.

There are others on this board, if they still visit, who are actually in the business and could weigh in with better opinions than mine on things that matter like materials, design and construction.

Other than that, the only person you really have to please is yourself. There are (were) quite a few members here who own cans I would never think of buying but they have my respect and it's the right can for them.

ETA:

FWIW all I'm doing is answering your questions with my opinions based on my perspective. Ask 30 more people and you'll have at least 8 different answers.

I originally answered "neither" because based on what I know today I'm happy with the choices already in front of me. But that wasn't me telling you to get neither, it's just what I'd do.

I have no idea what you should do, I don't know your goals or expectations. If you knew that for yourself then you'd probably already know what to buy.

I have a TiRant45 and got a chance to shoot the Obsidian on the same weapons at a suppressor shoot. To my ears; there was very little difference between the cans being used on a couple of hosts (1911 and FNX). I will say that the Obsidian being all steel would make it a lot easier to clean. If I was going to get another 45 can, Obsidian would be right at the top of the list as I also believe you can use Silencerco's pistons without any issues.
