Secondary expansion chamber?

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Secondary expansion chamber?

Post by garredondojr »

was looking at some of the new suppressors our dept. got and I was surprised by my findings. we got some silencerco specwar k's in for one of the units. They appear to only have 4 baffles and there all real close to each other and there is a huge blast chamber then there is a decent sized secondary chamber after the last baffle and before the endcap.

now i'm assuming this is to try and trap as much gas before it exits the suppressor? and I also assume the gigantic blast chamber is more so since these are full auto rated can's? was just a surprising find.

Technically, all spaces between baffles are expansion chambers.
With that said, yes, the full-auto rating would be a good reason for a larger spacing between the primary and secondary baffle.

To be honest, I don't know why they called it a "K" can. It's the same size as the majority of 5.56mm offerings.
