Use of crush washer a no go?

Hey Troops,
Dumb question time! I bought a used Seekins handguard, thinking it was a 12".... Measure twice cut once, huh? It is actually 12.5", when my Omega is mounted with the direct thread mount the end of the suppressor is slightly recessed within the handguard.... Do you think the muzzle blast will damage the handguard? Or if I use a crush washer....(see pic.) It puts the end of the suppressor past the end of the handguard.... But is that, as I suspect, a very bad idea?

I am planing on using the new Deadair mount under this handgard..... So it won't be a problem in the future.... But just curious if using my Omega like this is not a good idea....
Sorry for the direct links..... I couldn't get the "forum" links to work.....
