Re: First Form 1 Design
Thank you sir!
Re: First Form 1 Design
Does anyone know if this can could withstand 6.5 Grendel out of a 12.5'' barrel? Thanks!
Re: First Form 1 Design
Just asking again if anyone has an idea if this can will be okay on a 12.5'' 6.5 Grendel? Thanks!

Here is a good research paper on barrel length and pressure. 5.56 chamber pressures (58 ksi) are higher than 6.5 Grendel (52 ksi). Pressure drops dramatically after the bullet exists the barrel. Slide 4 shows suppressor pressure in the blast chamber.

You're designing for a sealed vessel, which a silencer should never be. If that were the case, a SF of 2.8 wouldn't suffice.
If you care to search, there are members here who've made ridiculously thin-walled silencers, from materials that weren't the strongest, on centerfire rifles. It's more a factor of elevated heat and where strength is on that curve. If you're planning to use the suppressor on a slow-fire rifle, even Aluminum will be applicable. If FA fire and mag dumps are in store, build for the worst case scenario.

Isn't designing for a sealed vessel a more conservative approach?T-Rex wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 7:14 am

This study (link above) was done with a higher pressure 5.56 at 1in barrel length increments. They measure the pressure in the blast chamber on a 300 series steel silencer. I appreciate the engineer toolbox link in bio! Not sure where I would be in life without it.

Any range reports yet?
I'm interested to hear how the DHC worked out, if you did end up going with it.
Where did you get those cups BTW? Things are sweet.
Re: First Form 1 Design
Sorry, been MIA for a little bit! This is my first silencer so I can't compare it to others, but I am very pleased with it's performance. I will try to take a video of it soon, and I know that won't give accurate information but I don't have a meter. 6.5G thru it was really sweet! I plan to hunt with it, only time I don't wear ear pro (I know it's bad) but for one shot silenced it was pleasant. 11.5'' 5.56 was nice too!
Cups were from Aegis Products, but I think they went down.

Re: First Form 1 Design
Didn't go without ear pro on the 5.56 but the noise/concussion reduction was very noticeable.
Re: First Form 1 Design
What is the best way to upload a video here? Shot 300 blk subs thru my silencer and I want to share it with you guys.
Re: First Form 1 Design
I'd upload to YouTube and publish the link here.
