Where do you get a greasgun lower?? Am I right that it appears to have a dedicated shorter magwell for the gg mags?

My Silent Carbine, barrel porting.
Found this site via tracking back from my weekly site reports.
Reading this thread I thought it appropriate to respond.
EDM porting is a bit slow and tedious, it takes several minutes to cut each port.
If I thought I could skip them without adverse effect on total suppression, I would be happy to do so.
My main reason for porting is that I could hear a difference in having them verse not.
Velocity testing did show a minor increase with longer barrels.
I may repeat those test and publish the result if anyone is really interested.
My porting ensures that the effective length of the barrel is 5.5", very close to a full size 1911 pistol.
Even with 185 gr. defense loads all rounds should remain subsonic.
Total barrel length is 7", so the bullet is supported and stabilized after it passes the ports.
The Silent Carbine is not the last word in Hi-Tech, it still uses "M" baffles.
It is designed to offer very good accuracy and value in cost verse suppression.
The feature that I am most proud of is it's lack of "First Round Pop".
Several units are in private hands, several more are about to transfer.
I expect that owners will begin to post their experiences very soon.

I'll do a full report as soon as I get mine in and take it out....Richard/SIA wrote:Found this site via tracking back from my weekly site reports.

We anxiously await reviews, have you thought about putting up a video here or on your tube of your suppressed models?Richard/SIA wrote:Found this site via tracking back from my weekly site reports.

So you don't meter your weapons?

I'd be interested in whatever research results you care to post.

I was thinking about doing this with a mauser action for lighter weight, are you going to be doing work with anything besides SMLE's?

Meter? Where to buy, and how much?
Unless you have a much better source than any I found a suitable set-up to accurately measure DB is very expensive.
I'm a small shop, the suppressors are a side line to my main business.
So far the expense of a meter to measure what usually turns out to be subject to the individual, terrain, elevation, humidity and other factors has not been justified.
I note that even many of the biggest names in suppressors do not list DB measurements.
I should have my previous length vs velocity notes around here some where, I will post them if I find them.
I can repeat the test after SAR if I need to.

Could it be the main business at least until the DeLisles are up and running? Please?Richard/SIA wrote:I'm a small shop, the suppressors are a side line to my main business.

Putting one together, with a tactical quad rail.

Just to show it can be done.
Will be for sale at SAR, show special, one only.
Should also have a conventional wood stock unit to show, but it's already sold.
My Enfield .45 SBR and a 7.62x39 "K" model will be there too.
I should be easy to find, just look for the big brass Gardner Gun.

Sure, as soon as I have orders for 10+ units a week.Diomed wrote:Could it be the main business at least until the DeLisles are up and running? Please?Richard/SIA wrote:I'm a small shop, the suppressors are a side line to my main business.
Of course if that happened I would be in a desperate need for Enfield receivers.
I've already reached the point of needing to find more Enfield #4's, I think I have only two left that are not committed to customers.

Richard, I know a guy in Maine who is big into Enfields. He sold me the one you converted for me. I'll dig around and find his contact info. I'll email it to you directly as soon as I find it. Easy guy to deal with, seems to have no end of Enfields. He's a dealer, maybe imports them directly but I don't know.

Latest version, built to show at SAR.
I just put it together this week.
I think it came out decent.

How much is that option?
How much is that option?
With the quad-rail, covers, extra machining, etc. I think $400 is fair.
It begins to put the price of the gun pretty high, but I still expect to sell a few of this variation.
I should have more Enfield-CAR adapters in January, THAT will really finish it off!

Again Richard...SICK SICK SICK!!!! Can't wait to see one of the Carbine-stocked ones. Although I'm really hoping you get in another run of the laminated stocks......something in a green/gray combo would look awesome against the parkerizing of the metal.
Steve
PS, I forgot to ask...does my rifle have the micrometer sight on it? I thought you said it did......I hope

Micrometer sight, yes. I have been waiting on the front.

Turned out that I did not have the correct height front sight in stock, it's always the little things that take up the most time.
No point in shipping it with a too tall sight, it would just make you unhappy when you tried to aim beyond 25'.
Laminate stocks will have to be a custom run, expen$ive, as I probably have to buy in bulk for a decent price.
Even more custom to get them made to fit the Silent Carbine rather than a standard Enfield!
I'm officially on the prowl for more actions, maybe I will find a few at SAR.

Re: Latest version, built to show at SAR.
Well I found the booth in the SAR building
the workmanship is good - I talked to both Richard and Carl
and both are very nice fellows, His suggestion is to find a non-Savage due to the way the actions differ from other makers. I have an Idea that he thinks he can build to completion so we are going ahead.
Sort of SBX
meets De Lesle replica
And using my existing 45 cal Can but No New Taxes
