Only 100 to be made
KAC SR15-E3 with dimpled barrel and a matching 1911 made by (i think Knight Hawk) with dimpled slide.
This is one awesome looking combo.
Put my name on the list so hopefully I will be the owner of 1 of the 100 pair when the come out. 8)
Wish I had some pics to share with you, but take my word for it.
YOU WANT ONE.
With the dippled barrel it looks kinda of PDWish.
Now I have to save, save, save, damn thats hard for me :x

Dimpled slide?! I can't imagine it looking good... but it must?

Yeah, kind of wierd.
But I think it looks cool next to the SR15-E3.
It's just different.
Guess that's how they make them a matching set.

I think I may have pix of it. I gotta flip through my camera. All pix from SHOT show were taken with consent from all manufactures prior to click the pix off :)

Wow! I must say that the first picture posted didn't really do this pair justice. I really like the looks of them in the second set of pictures. Very classy. What's the price on the pair?

I could be wrong, but I believe the SR-15 is a one of a kind. I do know that the 1911 is 1 of 100 and there are about 50 left last I heard. It is a Nighthawk and KAC custom so...pricey but worth it would be my guess.

Two of the ugliest looking guns I've ever seen. The dimpling looks dumb and gimmicky anywhere other than the barrel.

pbauw.. thanks for the kind words .. every one has different opinions about aesthetics . They are a one of custom set done in a certain style. The dimple pattern reduces weight everywhere it is used and they were done as a set. They are a high end custom collectors item set limited to 100 pcs and I'm pretty sure they are all sold out. There will also be a Strider knife done in the dimple pattern all in a custom case. What do you think would look cool if that is ugly .

beautiful guns, Trey.
Will it be possible to get the dimpled rail covers and grip?

I agree, joining two quality manufacturer's to make custom stuff like this really paid off big. Great firearms you got there Trey

+1 i remember the thread where all this got started. some of the ideas that have made it into life on those weapon systems were from board members themselves.

I understand the dimple pattern is KAC's "thing", but maybe a bit more subtle usage to provide texture on the gripping surfaces, like this:

Image

I think I like the rifle now after looking at it again. I'd buy a set of those dimpled rail panels. The 1911 is scary though. Maybe I'd like it if a more traditional serration pattern were used on the slide? This is irrelevant, though, as I'm not the market for this kind of thing anyway.

The only part that I really like is the dimple work on the barrel. Are they destressed after this process?? Does in continue under the handguards?

I’d like to shake the hand of the Magnificent Ba$tard that made those parts. The amount of skill/concentration required to get each one of those dimples to line up perfectly on a 3D surface is amazing.

Came across this set on Gunbroker:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =121185761

I have no idea what the suggested price for the set is.... so please don't beat the messenger. I just wanted to post this for anyone looking for them.

That 1911 has different engraving than the one I saw at SHOT...interesting.

The guns in the Knights booth were different than the guns in the Nighthawk booth, FWIW.

I almost think I could convince the wife that those belong in our "art" collection and not just more stuff for my gun safe.

Almost.

They look too nice to shoot. With only 100 sets, I guess that is the point.

I don't think I would want to own them, but they are nice to look at. I like KAC and Night Hawk working together. Almost makes me want to get back into 1911s.

Yes, the logo that was displayed in the KAC booth will be the one we use. Trey did one of each to see how they looked and I liked the KAC logo style "knighthawk" as soon as I saw it.

It has been fun working on this project and we look forward to getting all the fine details together for the production run.

I love the collaboration and the special run guns that KAC introduced at the show, but I hope the finish on the Nighthawk is better than the one I had. Mine had finish flaking off all around the ejection port, especially in front of the port for some strange reason. The forward dimpling on the E3 is SWEET!
