Here is some AAC data for 9mm silencers.

Post by silencertalk »

I just summed up some data.

In many cases we had lots of sessions over days or months (since last summer), and I averaged those together. This is far better than a single 10 shot average.

USP9 with American Eagle 147

SWR Trident 127.6, average of 17, 10 shot sessions (170 shots).
AAC Evo-9, 129.3, average of 24, 10 shot sessions (240 shots).
Gemtech MultiMount, 129.8, average of 11, 10 shot sessions (110 shots).
Gemtech Tundra, 130.8, average of 2, 10 shot sessions (20 shots).

Glock 19 with American Eagle 147

AAC Evo-9, 128.2, average of 9, 10 shot sessions (90 shots).
SWR Trident 136.2, average of 5, 10 shot sessions (50 shots).

So this is the old Evo-9 not the newer baffles right?

any difference in metering the old vs the new stack?

Thanks for sharing the info as always.

I for one love my USP + Evo combo, but it's nice to know you can't really go wrong with either.

Wow, why is the trident so damn loud on the glock?

Nice job on the new evo BTW :D

It's not so damn loud in person. Nice to see some competition though.

+1 Silvers SWR takes one AAC take the other. This say a lot about the testing being fair.

Really? I see numbers without any context.

What is the threaded barrel length on the G19 vs. a USP?

Since Roberts test shows the new EVO9 as quieter on the G19 than the USP I am guessing the baffle design works better with higher pressure gasses.

An 8.6 dB difference between the USP and the G19 is very curious though. On average (according to Bruel & Kjaer training I attended) a 9dB difference will sound about twice as loud to the human ear.

I have no clue as to how I could reproduce those results. They're just numbers.

Perhaps I missed something. Maybe you did detailed testing and posted it in another thread. Or you got data from silencer research.

It was an average of 5, 10 shot tests. The test was the standard test - 1 meter to the left, 1.6 meters high. B&K 2209 meter, etc. All cans were dry.

In your opinion, is the 1.7 decibel advantage the Trident has over the Evo-9 enough to say it's a better option considering that it's an overall larger can, longer, fatter, and heavier? I'm trying to decide on a can for my USP9SD and those are my two choices. Thanks.

...and the trident's cheaper...

You'll still see fine with the usp9sd.

...If you ask silvers who makes the best boat or RV, I'm sure he'd say AAC does.

I like many AAC suppressors and you'll definitely be happy with the evo or the trident, but I'd buy the trident personally.

I'd like to see the number for the Evo-9 vs Multimount on a Beretta M-9/92F some day.

I came sooo close to getting an Evo but ended up with the Multimount because of a project that never happened.......

The EVO-9 silencers that have been shipping this year are much quieter. Another 3-5dB. I predict that no other company will compete with the EVO-9 in the upcoming 9mm test on silencerresearch.com.

I'd be interested to see the head to head results between the older Evo-9 and the new one. I've got an older Evo-9 (bought in 2006) and it's still pretty darn quiet.

I would be interested to see what the numbers look like averaged between several common host guns: sig 226, glock 17, glock 19, hk usp9, beretta m9...

I could definitely see the evo 9 edging out the competition on the glock 19, but I have a feeling it wouldn't beat out all of the others in a general average of several 9mm hosts.

Of course it will be close and near the top, and it's no where near as big or bulky as a trident and it's nearly half the length of degroat's d.e.l.t.a can, and when weighing all of those factors in (meaning size and weight compared to decibel reduction) it's easily a winner since you can use it on so many hosts. Yet, I have a feeling the quietest will still be a boutique can on a sig 226 host. (meaning just going by numbers, not factoring in size, weight, length, etc.)

Go over to SilenderResearch and you can see at least two guns for most tests and three guns for others ... 226, glock and beretta I think.

I have seen it...

...I meant in the UPCOMING tests

...I'd like to see those numbers on several hosts rather than just what the new evo design did on just the glock 19 and usp 9 (where I would think it would be more favorable)

It would be interesting to see. And either way, I'd still buy the new evo design...and I'd still buy the old design...I'd just buy some of the competition as well.
