Well, Im beyond happy!(update.lol)

Post by Fireman1291 »

So today I take out my new M4-2000 MOD08 for the third time. Im shooting a 30rd string from my 16" semi-auto AR15, I let it cool for 30min and I go to remove the can...nothing. Frozen to the mount and I can see the spring inside the QD setup is free floating and the latch just clicks back and forth. I turn the can hard and it fucking backs the whole mount/can off my threads, rockset and all. I come home let it sit in solvents and I wrench back and fourth and nothing. So now im stuck with a $1,000 paper weight.

And I scrub the hell out of the mounting surfaces and remove the carbon after every use. This can has maybe 600-800rds through it and I waited 6 fucking months to get it and now the QD system is fucked. So much for me being able to take it to a shoot on the 28th, no way AAC will be able to accomodate me in that time frame  F--k!

you got 3 weeks, I bet Mers could get you hooked up. Ship that can overnight on Monday. Yes, I agree that it sucks you have to send it in, but they might get it back to you pretty quickly. if it was a bad mount, they might even pick up shipping.....

More ironic, I was wearing the AAC blackout t-shirt while shooting and promoting thier products when people asked questions. Then this happens, I mean how can these even be considered for the military if they fail after 800rds with cleaning after every session

I'm sorry to hear this, call Mers on monday and he'll take care of you.
I understand you're upset, and I understand why.

That said, I think condemning our entire product line is a bit much. There are thousands and thousands of our silencers out there, Military and Civilian, with thousands and thousands of rounds through them. We stand behind our products and will take care of you.

1. Soak the mount area of the can (with the stuck mount inside) in some copper solvent.
2. Clean the threads on the rifle and the mount and then dry them completely.
3. Reapply the rockset and wait 24 hours for it to properly setup.
4. Remove the silencer.

I agree with Jason. It sounds like your bashing them to me. I know your pissed. I could totally understand if AAC said go F--k yourself or something. They'll get on it. As soon as Mers gets out of SuperCuts he'll handle it. There may be a faster solution than overnight if KB got that Lambo he was looking at. 8)

Yeah ok, Ive had a few beers ok...I came off harsher than I would have. I'm just pissed. I know theyll make it right.

Its already soaking in carbon killer and ill remount it tomorrow and try to remove it again when I get off duty tuesday morn. The spring keeps clicking and the QD teeth wont disengauge or raise enough to move off of the teeth on the blackout.

You have an issue, so suddenly the entire line sucks for military use?

Yeah, so I just wrenched the hell out of it with a wrench in a vice and I held the blackout wrench flats up against the wrench. Nothing. You can see the spring inside the QD system is just floating around and the teeth wont disengage from the blackout I even used a allen wrench as leverage under the teeth and even though it would only pull it up some its not enough to disengage the teeth.

So how do I mail this thing? I need it back in less than two weeks.

I had a guy torque down on mine (with his hands) and it went over the teeth. See if you can pry and hold the retainer spring back at both contacts points and have someone try and back the can off. I had to do that and it worked. Just a suggestion. Eddie

So, there's no way to simply screw the mount/can combo right back onto the rifle's threads and shoot it again, huh?

BTW Mike,

I mailed it off today, what a friggin chore that was. I drove to three different UPS stores and was denied shipment of a "firearm part" at the first two.

Then I found the last place and mailed it via UPS and it cost $35.80 to ship UPS ground with $1,000 insurance. Hopefully it arrives soon as its not like it has to go cross-country.

Thanks for being cool about my bitching, I came off harsh as I was a little bussed  and very disapointed that it happened. But your reputation precedes you so I know I'll be fine. Let me know when it arrives safely. Thanks again. -Adam

Cool.

I understand your frustration, after all the money and waiting it takes to get these things.

From all you've described, it sounds like maybe the latch spring broke, preventing the latch from opening enough to clear the teeth and allow it to be unscrewed?
