9mm subsonic.....what primers and powder

Be careful -- low-volume ratio loads can detonate. Mangement not responsible for load data. Use at your own risk.

I use 4.0 Bullseye under a plated 147 and it works fine. I tried 3.8 of bullseye but it was not reliable enough to cycle the two 9mm that I used it in.

chrismartin - confirming 3.8 grains Winchester 231 for a 147 grain plated 9mm bullet?

I'm firing a 115 grain bullet at 4.8 grains and it is NOT subsonic, LOL...

My current IPSC/IDPA/steel load in 9mm uses Solo1000, about 3.4 to 3.6 for lead 147s, and about 3.8 for 147 FMJ. I'm getting MV around 915 fps. I could push it higher but don't need to. I would push it up to about 1050, if I was shooting anything other than paper and steel.

Solo1000 compares pretty well to VV n320 as it burns clean, burns fast (good for silencers), doesn't burn real hot (less smoke with lead bullets), is much less $$$ and more readily available. The downside is Solo1000 seems to have more variability lot-to-lot than other powders, which means I chrono test when I get a new 8# jug in. It has a pretty firm following among action pistol shooters running lead bullets.

My 147 fmj load is good from my 9mm cans. I have never compared it to Special K.
