Just when I think I have enough junk, someone like you waggles something like that in front of me. I now have a new hunk of metal that I must have.

By that I mean, "nice rig."

Is that thing for home defense or just for kicks?

Very nice Sir. Good looking combo with the sling and grip. I really like they did not whiten the lettering. Is that a plastic trigger guard?

Nice pictures and a very cool gun. There is nothing like a badass shotgun.

Looked on Serbu's site and the thing costs $775 for the 870 version..

Jesus!!

Why not build one for near half the cost?

Can you explain this to me? I looked into it, and I didn't see that kind of savings to build something similar. If you form 1 an AOW, it's a $200 stamp, plus it has to start out as a pistol 870. The cheapest I could come up with would be registering it as a sbr, and then using a beater 870. Once I look at the parts needed, plus getting it refinished, I wasn't saving anything, not counting the time to build.

My mistake, thought it was $5 Tax to make as well. $775 is still expensive, (not sure of all the fees a dealer incurs on the manufacture of the shotty though).

What doesn't make sense is why not just make a SBS then? My understanding is that a SBS is more versatile than an AOW. (Can be run w/ or w/ out a stock).

Buying an AOW is $5, so there's a point in buying them. I'd only make an AOW in a state where SBS is illegal.

Sorry, I meant "sbs" instead of "sbr", but to form 1 an sbs cost $200 as well. If I knew I would keep it forever, I might be willing to pay the extra $195 and play with stocks. It would be tough to sell with a $200 stamp with all the other $5 stamp Serbu's out there.

I've got one of these in the process of being transferred to me. How's that Hogue grip working for you? I think that's exactly what I'm going to need...

Plus one of those SKT holster get-ups.

Havent shot her yet...waiting on stamp. The grip however, feels 10x better than the factory hard plastic POS. The added benefit of rubber recoil absorbtion and added protection for trigger guard slam....no brainer. 8)

I just don't understand...

It is an 870 worth about $300 w/ what looks like a new pistol grip and VFG for $775. Not saying that is isn't a sweet little package! I'd sure love to have one. Just having a little trouble with the price being so high, & in the end you end up with an AOW and not a SBS.

It transfers on a form 3 correct? So that is another $50 to my local dealer?

I paid under $700 for everything. Worth it, considering it has the cool factor the desert eagle brings to the table but the ammo is cheaper and so is the weapon. 8)

No doubt, it is def a badass weapon! That is not in question.

I'd just like to see it with a lower price tag.

$300 for 870 receiver, $25 for pistol grip, $X for some welding, barrel shortening and a VFG = $775

With a little algebra I found out X = $450 (even if you got it for under $700, X ~ $350)

Does no one else think that is high? I'm not an expert on this. Am I missing something? Is it expensive for a dealer to build an AOW? Some kind of a tax?

Cost them $200 to register as an AOW unless they are a low volume manufactuerer. Your eating that cost. Unless someone can correct me.

If that is the case then the cost makes sense. Can someone confirm the manufacturer pays $200 to make the weapon?

If I was going to spend that kind of money I would form 1 a SBS, that way I have the option of adding a stock down the road & wouldn't have to deal with the $50 Form 3 Transfer cost to my local dealer. (It is transferred on a form 3 correct? No one really ever said yes or no?)

I see the only advantage of an AOW over a SBS is the ability to transfer it to a new owner for a $5 stamp.
