help Osprey 45 and a 1911 as a host

Does anyone have this setup ? I am waiting on the atf and would like to know if I use the recoil device/piston or do I need a fixed barrel spacer

Use the piston. In general, pistols with the Browning type tilting barrels (like your 1911) need the piston to decouple the mass of the silencer from the barrel so it will function. Rifles and fixed barrel pistols (like the 9mm HK P9S) need the fixed barrel spacer.
