Ideal Dimensions for 5.7x28 rifle form 1

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Ideal Dimensions for 5.7x28 rifle form 1

Post by Turbotaz »

my initial thought would be
1.3"ishx5.5-6.5"ish
generous BC
will most likely be running a qd brake like griffin taper
maybe 5-6 baffles??

what are y'all thinking?
I feel like 16" is gonna require a lot different specs than a 5" pistol.

Everyone says “some 22 cans will…”
Or “5.56 k can is just as good as any”

I know there can be a well tuned 5.7 can that is going to yield a unique tone.
Just not sure on how yet!

Ideal or not, I'm going to build a six inch long 5.7x28 can for subsonic handloads for a 12" Contender SBR. I'll use 1.25" wide tubing with .035" walls, the thinnest I can find for now. I would like to use .020" walls. I'll use 60 degree clipped cones stacked about half inch apart.

SilencerTalk was a place I could disccuss making registered silencers without being told I was a criminal. That is no longer true. http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=132&t=99273
