Severly corroded Multimount (This can't be good)

I bought the Multimount last year during the tax day promotion. I've only shot about 1,000 rounds through it. I cleaned the LID after the first 250 rounds and did not clean it for the last 750 rounds. I have not shot it in quite some time due to the birth of my first child. I took it out of the safe today with the intentions of cleaning it and shooting it. Much to my dismay I could not get the LID to budge. I looked inside and was shocked at what I saw. There was no way this was coming apart. I submerged the can in Kroil up to the top of the LID for 6 hours. I had to use a wrench and shop rags to get the rear of the LID off in order to take out the piston. I cannot remove the rest of the LID, it's sealed shut.

What would cause this amount of corrosion? I've got a golden rod and dessicant packs in my safe and have had no issues with humidity or rust. Is this serviceable? Can I still shoot it with this much corrosion? Is this covered by warranty?

Only rounds through it were either Remington 147gr or Winchester White Box 147gr, no corrosive ammo was ever used.

I clean mine withing 24 hours of shooting it, and have no similar problems.

No sir was stored in the box that it came it.

I shot it wet a couple of times in the 1st 250 rounds and then cleaned it. I can't remember if I shot it wet after that, pretty sure I did, but can't recall.

Any water based medium (like wire pulling gel) is expressly mentioned in the owners manual.

The baffles are not anodized and shooting water in it can cause corrosion.

I had no idea wire pulling gel was water based. I figured that's why it was so popular.

I soaked it in Kroil for 6 hours. I think what you're seeing is the oil mixed with crud.

Or not, called Gemtech yesterday and they said they've never seen corrosion like this even with silencers that shot wire pulling gel. I'm sure that's what contributed or started the corrosion process, but maybe something else is going on here? Regardless the can is going back to Gemtech simply for the fact that I can not remove the LID.

In the pictures posted I'm not sure I see "corrosion".

I see a tremendous amount of sh*t caked on some silencer parts but I can't say I see any eroded metal ... what am I missing?

Looks like flash baked grease and unburnt powder leavings to me.

In the first picture you can even see where somebody has scratched though the baked on gritty goodness.

The green stuff , is copper from the jackets , yes THAT is corroded, but its just on the surface
you can have the same in a muzzle brake or hider , it get covered with copper , that copper than corrodes , and looks green

the black gunk looks like dirt / carbon

the spring is hard too tell , but i dont think it looks like the can itself is corroded

it depends on the baffles.
Unanodized aluminum can corrode with water.

Remember that pistol suppressors typically have multiple types of materials in them. These materials in the presence of water will corrode and it can be faster due to dissimilar materials touching. This is called Galvanic corrosion which is essentially electrolysis. The electrons move from one material to the other causing corrosion. Anodization of the parts would help to limit the effect but it would nto stop it completely. This is why its critical when you have dissimilar materials touching to try to keep them dry.

Looks about like how my trident LID spends it's life. I just knock the big chunks off and slap some more grease on it to be burned off. Hasn't failed to cycle yet.

Plus chlorine HATES aluminum. This is why wire pulling gel, even spit, is better than tap water ... hell diet soda is better than tap water.
