Some how I don't think "self defense" is going to fly in this case.

Sorry :( But this is exzactly why you don't shuffle around at night with your britches hanging to your ass and a hoodie over your head. It helps to be cognizant of your behavior and surroundings. To bad for the kid and his fam.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

...Jesus Christ and the American G. I.

...One died for your soul; the other for your freedom.

If there is anything to be taken away from that story, it is this;
Zimmerman told police he shot the teen in self defense, authorities said, and remains free as the state attorney investigates. Police said he has not been charged because there are no grounds to disprove his story of what happened.
Inside of your own home, if confronting an intruder, kill them. Then its your story against a dead felon.

Before rebutting me, bear in mind that I am not saying Martin was a felon, or even responding to this story in particular.

Not breaking any laws...also the hood was probably on his head because it was raining...still wearing it isn't breaking any laws. I'd think more people would be concerned about guys like Zimmerman owning and carrying a gun. Mall ninja of the suburbs. It's point blank to me: Unarmed child gets shot by crazed gunman loser type guy because he thought he looked "suspicious".

Without trying to be intellectually dishonest, were you there? Help me with your take on what laws weren't broken... by either the (17yr old) kid or by the nutcase neighborhood watch clown? What's the juvenile curfew law in that area?

A horribly unfortunate incident where bad judgement by two parties ends in disaster. That's right, IMHO, BOTH parties, and actually a third party, the "kids" parents, use singularly ignorant and self centered decision making skills which result in a f'ed up situation where someone dies because of stupidity.

Pfffft..... humans. Buncha nutcases.
What amount of a man is composed of his own collection of experiences... and the conclusions that those experiences have allowed him to "know" for certain as "Truth"? :Ick

You and Geraldo Rivera.

One story I heard has the neighborhood watch guy riding around in his car one minute then bleeding on his back the next. If that's true then why he got out of his car and what he did once out seems pertinent. You can't hide behind self defense if you initiate or escalate the hostility.
