The Walther should come with a face mask.

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

The shitty part of it all is I fired all my .22 silencers on one of those and it sounded REaly good!

If they ever make a steel slide I`ll get one. Till then, I think I`ll persue other hosts. I hope it didn`t hurt your cans!

I have gont around 10K through my P22 and the only thing wrong with it is there is ZERO rifling in the barrel, so when I shoot it suppressed every single shot is a baffle strike! Glad my baffles are SS or Ti!

At the same time one of my shooting buddies had the frame crack after around $3500 rounds.

Wow, only a couple hours ago I e-mailed a friend to tell him that I've seen a lot of reports about P22 slides cracking (spend a few minutes on Google and you'll see it goes back years and years). He has a P22 which we both love (very accurate, more than it is given credit for, I think), but I was suggesting he might want to think about trading it while he can.

Then I logged in and saw this.

It's a shame they haven't done something about it, but I gather today's Walther is basically a brand name (apparently a BB gun company bought the rights in the 90s...)

strangely enough I have a mosquito that runs flawlessly, even with subs. So is the M&P22 a better option? which of the service modeled pistols is a good 22 host?

How the mighty Walther has fallen. Your P22 looks exactly
like the .45 my uncle gave me in 1943 when I was five after
a summer of shooting Nazis and Japs [sic]. Oh, it also was made
out of pressed composite sawdust and it broke just like that when I
hit it against my Thompson Machine Gun ... made out of good hard wood.

It astonishes me why any serious shooter would ever buy anything but
a solid steel weapon. No tolerance for trading safety for fad. Lose an eye
or worse?

What is next? Randall knife blades made from
recycled Obama - Biden buttons? [ Notice my classy restraint. ]
SilencerCo developing a cheapened introductory Silencer .. the Pigeon ...good for 500
rounds before the Zinc pot metal melts?

Old Balkan expression: A cheap man (tight sphincter) flatulates twice!

As with my Hero President Cal Coolidge often said "Them's my sentiments".

E. German cars the Trabants! :) :)

They are the Walther subcontractor that makes the P22.

The Smith and Wesson M41! Same ergonomics as the 1911 A1 so that shooter
can transition easily. I often transition from warming up with the M41 for
'getting in the zone' and then proceeding to my NM 1911A1 with same hold.

And the M41 is superior to the Hi-Standard with its Mickey Mouse
Nambu like parts. :)

Note: I talk from experience having owned, collected, and gratefully sold off all my Hi-Standards, Medalist, Nomads,
and other .22's ( O.K. I do not play golf, thank God. :) ) ] the M41 is it. Take this for what it is worth.

And, as an added benefit, you can get the heavy barrel threaded in many ways if you are so disposed.

Your eyes are worth it!

The M&P 22 is made by Walther too.

How come it looks like it got spiked into the ground because those two screws would not come out (b/c of rust) ? Or you just got lucky with a poor batch of contaminated metal that they made that slide out of. I'll give you $5 for that gun, broken slide and what not.

We aren't threading barrels at this time, perhaps in the future we will do some.

SIDENOTE - I need to speak with you about your project, will you be around on Monday? What time is best.

That's just scary!

Hate it that we have a Mosquito in addition to an M106 High Standard (that works like a dream!). Looks like I'd better plan on a replacement for that SIG!

Sure glad I decided to do the 40 year old High Standard on a whim. Bought a new bbl from Brownell's and had it threaded. Is a tack driver!

I wonder if a skinny barrel Ruger auto can be threaded. Have one of those in the safe too.

I never did like the extended barrel. I bought the short barrel from Smith and never looked back. I have a like new conversion from 3 1/2' to 5" barrel (all parts) that I will let go for $100... Good riddance!
I haven't had a single jam with the short barrel.

The Beretta on the left... an 87 Cheetah in 22lr. That is more quality than a Walther. You'll pay more for it, no doubt about that, but my great-grandchildren will shoot it eventually.

I think he meant it sarcastically.

There are many 22lr pistols that are far better quality than the Walther P22.

I myself really really want an Beretta 87!
