Hello everyone!
I want to build a 10/22 SBR and want to use a bull barrel in the 4"-5" range. I will be shooting suppressed. I need to know where I can get a barrel, the recommended twist(I shoot CCI SV 40g), and where I can send the barrel to have it cut and threaded. Also, if there's anything else I need to know or any recommendations, please feel free...Thank you

Could do something like this and have your smith thread it for you

Re: 10/22 SBR barrel questions
This ^^^^^^ Charger barrels are the same as 10-22 barrels. I got really lucky and found a TacSol 5" aluminum/sleeved and threaded Charger barrel for mine. Wish I could find/afford a couple more.
Re: 10/22 SBR barrel questions
ha - just sent a PM to redtazdog to see whether he can do something similar, i'll point him to this thread and he can respond or PM you with his availability and costs. he's done threading and .22lr AR upper fabrication work for others on this board that has been very well respected.
wrt barrel length and turn rate, 4-4.5" is what I've seen others recommend, using standard 1:16 10/22 barrels (for standard or sub velocity .22 ammo 30-40 gr). if you have the factory 10.22 barrel, you could just have it cut down and threaded.

Re: 10/22 SBR barrel questions
I have done many 10/22 barrel chop thread and crown jobs some with a invisible thread protector.
Another 10/22 barrel maker is Clint Beyer as he makes
them like the tacsol barrels but uses the stronger 7075spring aluminum.
beyerbarrls.com i think is the web address.

It may not be for a SBR but it still looks goodjaredr wrote:ha - just sent a PM to redtazdog to see whether he can do something similar, i'll point him to this thread and he can respond or PM you with his availability and costs. he's done threading and .22lr AR upper fabrication work for others on this board that has been very well respected.

Re: 10/22 SBR barrel questions
bumping this for an acknowledgement of awesome work. I'm on travel right now so cannot take any more photos, but "magic trick" barrel pictured above with the invisible thread protector is work that redtazdog just did for me. It's simply gorgeous - no other way to describe it. Also worth noting that I sent it out from NC on a Thursday going US priority mail to the other side of the country. redtazdog did the work and somehow got it back to me in my mailbox by the next Saturday. total turnaround time was 9 days including us mail back and forth across the country. excellent in every way, looking forward to getting home and getting it out to the range.
