Re: 17-4 stainless source

My intended use for 17-4 is welded end caps and plug-welded baffles. My tube is seamless 316. Do I even need heat treaded 17-4, or would annealed condition work just fine?

Re: 17-4 stainless source

https://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=5&step=2&top_cat=1 This is actually what led to my quandary - when you click on both "cold finished" and "rough turned" it says annealed in the description. Yarde/dropzone looks promising, but they have a $18 handling charge f...

17-4 stainless source

Starting to collect materials and struggling with locating the proper 1.5" 17-4 stainless steel round. From what I've read, the precipitation hardened (PH) stuff is the way to go, but many sites also have the PH round labeled "annealed" or "condition A." My googlefoo says th...

Re: Any OEM L.I.D available for a Form 1 1911 build?

I have been considering building a form 1 9mm can, but the L.I.D. has always been what has held me back. Knowing what one has to do to legally use a purchased booster on a form 1, what is the best choice? Gemtech? SWR? Other? I'm looking for something that is indexable to correct POI shift.

Re: Form 4...double-sided

They will mail it back to your dealer with a letter with a bunch of things on it that can potentially be wrong with your application. The fact that it needs to be on a single sheet of paper will be checked. You will have between 30-60 days (I can't remember) to send back your ammended form 4. If yo...

Re: Form 4...double-sided

I had a form 4 get kicked back for that. I told the dealer before he sent it that I would prefer it to be double sided and he insisted that it was ok and he had had many approved single sided. Well it got kicked back. The ATF was very helpful though when I called them, and they told me a hand writt...

Form 4...double-sided

My dealer sent off my first Form 4 on a trust on 4/4. The check cleared 4/21. But... I'm almost certain the Form 4 was 2 pages, not one page, front and back. Just read that the Form 4 should have been double-sided. Yes, my dealer is new to the class 3 game. Am I going to get it kicked back? And if s...

Re: Tube recommendation

1-3/8" is already huge for a .22, 1-1/2" would be ridiculous. I would shoot for 1-1/8 OD tubing max. Concentrate more on length than diameter on .22. Steel is usually way too heavy for .22 applications, I would go with 2024 aluminum baffles/end caps, 304/316 stainless blast baffle (first ...

Re: Tube recommendation

Thank you for your reply, Bender. I'll take another look at Aluminum. Why not just post the questions ONCE and not in multiple forums. Will get better interaction that way. You might notice that I removed part of the post so it was more specific about the tubing. I may not have many posts, but I've ...

Tube recommendation

Thinking about doing the SBR avoiding barrel shroud to suppress my incoming Browning SA 22 - what tubing would you recommend (preferably steel, so I can weld in the blind pin) for the shroud? The 22 Sparrow is 1.062" in diameter..so maybe 1.375" OD x 0.049" WALL x 1.277" ID 4130 ...

Browning SA-22 ... SB-X the factory barrel?

I am awaiting shipment of a Browning SA-22 I picked up off GB. I'm debating between cutting it to 16.25" and threading it, or cutting it back further to pin a suppressor shroud for my incoming SS Sparrow. Thoughts? Also, what tubing would you recommend (preferably steel, so I can weld in the bl...

I'm not really into "semi-disposable" $300 guns.

Found a decent deal on a LNIB S&W 2214 and pulled the trigger....should look something like this with my Sparrow:

Haha I see your point. Just get a suppressor long enough to touch your target, then you don't need sights?

small 22 host?

With a SS Sparrow on the way, I've started evaluating my host line-up. I already have a cz452 w/ hotrod9mm thread adapter, a 10/22 with threaded tacsol barrel, a mkIII 22/45 (soon to be shortened and threaded), and a henry H001 (still considering threading). I'd like to add a small pistol to the gro...

shortest 22LR barrel length?

How much barrel does it take to stabilize your typical 22LR? I've got an extra MKIII 22/45 upper that I'd like to cut as short as possible for my incoming Sparrow. If I have the suppressor shoulder up against the receiver face and have .4" in of threads, the barrel would be roughly 1.75" l...

Plastic welding hobby kits are cheap.
there is also welding epoxy for kit cars and such-
literally eats into the plastic, but I'm not sure if it would work with delrin or nylon.
