Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
If a can that looks like a Maxim and is louder than a Tirant is AAC's idea of an innovative new product, my response is a resounding "meh." Why make a steel Prodigy when you have the Element? These are the things that are keeping potential hot sellers like the Ranger 3 from coming to market?

Re: YHM Cobra M2 core upgrade
Probably not. They licensed the baffle design from SoundTech years ago; upgrading them would take a bunch of R&D work that would probably make the can more expensive, and the whole point of the Cobra (cort of) is to be a budget can.tacticalhillbilly wrote:Does anybody think Yankee Hill will ever upgrade the Cobra?
Re: Ranger 3
Dumb. They cancel this so they can focus on an eccentric Evo 9 that no one will buy?

Re: Tikka 3+1, .308, having barrel threaded
1. Buy T3 (seriously, great rifles). 2. Chop to 16". 3. Apply suppressor of choice. 4. Enjoy. 16" will get you anything within reasonable hunting range and will still be compact with something like a Cyclone K. A T3 in .223 and SBR'ed to 12.5" is still on my Want List. With a 1:7 reba...

Re: solvent trap
I'm sure it would be fine. It's usually the baffles that get messed up not the tube. I don't think it would be very durable but since you would be the manufacturer, you could just replace the internals as they wear out. Make sure you file a form 1 prior to purchasing those parts. Best of luck You s...

Re: How much suppressor is needed to act as a quiet brake?
A brake mount will reduce recoil on its own but is not nearly as effective when it's inside the suppressor. In other words, don't commit to a brake-mounted can because you think it will reduce recoil better, it really won't. If weight is important to you the TBAC you linked is probably the best arou...

Free bore boost is about velocity. But energy can't be added by a silencer.

I don't know what it would be like to get one on-board a commercial airplane through TSA. Unless you mean inside the cabin, it's really easy. I have flown many times with NFA weapons. No different than flying with a hunting rifle. Declare them at the check-in, certify they are unloaded, lock the ca...

Not really interested in paying for it, I know what the baffles look like in all of them, was more just for academic curiosity and pretty pictures.

Re: X-rays of new AAC cans
Very nice. I have a bunch of silencers I'd like to xray but I work in a university hospital where it is a felony to bring a firearm. I don't know any off-site xray techs or docs well enough to ask them if I can bring a bunch of NFA gear to their office.

Re: Cyclone and 300BO subs
I doubt you will find it any quieter in 300Blk. The blackout does use a bit less powder, but the Cyclone has more than enough volume for the powder gas produced by either subsonic cartridge, so most of the noise is firing pin action and bullet flight noise anyway. A semi-auto 300Blk will obviously b...

Re: Lightweight 5.56
Does it have shoddy-looking cast baffles like their 9mm cans? Will it be a three-year wait til they hit stores like the MPX?
OP, if you really need lightweight, you need titanium. Just be aware that it has serious limitations on the 5.56 rifle platform.

Yes, that is what is pictured. It was the same with multiple brands of ammo as well. I have been away on business for the last couple of weeks, but I will be back this coming week and will try again at the range.

The baffles pictured on their website are definitely not K baffles. Are you sure you know what K baffles are?pistolpeta wrote:Now see, the current baffles are all K baffles, what would you be able to do that the current ones cant?
Id mainly like for the can to suppress subs the best, in 300 blk.

Re: Kestrel 308
Welp, the suppressor in question is a Huntertown Arms Kestrel 308. There's your problem right there. FYI the speed of sound also varies with air temperature and humidity, so 1050fps can actually be supersonic or transonic and give you some sonic crack depending on your environment. But yeah, I've n...

Re: legally carrying and/or transporting silencer
This is why I said you are overthinking it. You can come up with 10,000 what-if scenarios about transporting NFA items, but the fact remains that there are NO LAWS SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSING IT. It is not illegal to transport a silencer on your person. It is not illegal to transport a silencer in your ...

I am all for the spirit of making your own, but you need to first ask yourself if you really think you can do better for your needs. Making a booster that works well and doesn't break pistols is not easy. And you can get a Tirant 9 for like $350 right now from Quiet Riot which also (I think) still i...

Re: WTF has gone wrong with my can?
I did remove both endcaps and checked them, no bullet rubs and the threads looked clean. With my low-mount optic I can't completely pull the bolt without removing the eyepiece of the scope but the alignment seems as good as I can determine.
