Maybe 41 magnum? uses .410 to .412 bullets

The LeMat Revolver was a 42 caliber.

I am going to test dry lube in the necks for subsonic for the same reason, which is higher SD (and stringing because of it). Here is my thinking. Lapua has great engineers who develop bullets, powders, brass, etc. They developed the Lapua 200 gr subsonic bullet solely for subsonic use. They used a b...

I bought 150 rounds of the 200 gr Federal EFMJ +P (they now only sell 165 gr) for 45 ACP and 200 rounds of 124 gr Federal EFMJ +P for 9mm. I bought these for reliable concealed carry or defense ammo. 45 ACP in 5" barrel (chronos in my gun slightly above Federal's figures below) 200gr +P is 1030...

I have an 18" barrel, DPMS LR308B with 1in10 twist. I was just working up a load for the 220gr SMKs, and have not used the 240's because the bullet is too long for my twist rate. Actually, according to the stability calculator, 220's are marginal with 1in10. However, I did not get any keyholing...

Thanks for the advice. I was doing load development, to discern the exact amount of Trailboss I needed to achieve 1060 fps with the 220 SMK. My target was only at 50 yards, during chronographing and load development. While a SD of 32fps is not terrible at full power loads, I think anyone can underst...

I actually have a theory on why the 220 grain SMKs resulted in a higher standard deviation (SD). The 220 SMK is long, 1.497", and I seated the bullet deeper, so that they were magazine length. I think the bullet bottom was past the neck and shoulder of the case, with it seated that deep. I thin...

13.5 grains of Trailboss should chrono right around 1050 fps with a 240 SMK.

subsonic 220 SMK in 308

Has anyone developed subsonic 308 with 220 gr SMK bullet? I did some load development yesterday and 13.0 grains of Trailboss gave me 1000 fps in DPMS 18" barrel, 1 in 10 twist. I use standard brass (LC) with CCI BR2 primers. However, the SD was 32. BTW, no keyholes which was a concern (stabilit...
