MAC-10 9mm suppressor clone build questions

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

MAC-10 9mm suppressor clone build questions

Post by lemonysword »

Hello,

I recently purchased my first MG, a 9mm MAC-10. I want an original two stage enormous suppressor for it, but so far have only found them in .45ACP, so my next best bet is to do a Form 1 for something that has the same look. I do not care about cloning the internals, I just want the same dimensions outside. There are several fake cans on the market with the same dimension (Length : 11.5" Diameter : Large Stage - 2.25" Small Stage - 1.75") but I do not know the makeup of them, if they are hollow, etc. It looks like there are some tack welds holding it together, maybe this means it is hollow? I think the easiest way to do a F1 can with the proper dimensions would be to use this as the tube. Has anyone done this before

Also, side question, I have an approved stamp for an 8" 9mm F1 suppressor that I never built. I think it's been almost two years since I got the stamp. Is it possible to amend a length change? Would the ATF allow it due to the length of time the form has been approved?

Don't copy a MAC/Sionics suppressor, they only mark a moment in time and don't work nearly as well as the MK-9 coaxial suppressor. Full of K or cone they have rocked the buzz gun world for decades. You can't be a proper postmen without one!!!

This question has come up before.
Do you wish a true two stage with improvements or only the exterior looking vintage. Its simply about machine time.

Congratulations on your M-10! I have a M-12 that I bought from a "Law Enforcement Official" over 20 years ago and am in the process of overhauling it now. I know of a couple places that may be of help with your can and upkeep on your new friend. First is https://cobray.com/ they have all the original parts needed to keep it running. Second https://curtistacticalsuppressorsandrifles.com/ They recore suppressors and do custom work. They may be able to break open a fake two stage for you and fill it (form 1) or possibly just make you a better one (form 4).

I believe that the large section was filled with shoelace eyelets (aluminum) around about a 1" ported "barrel".

After the first rebuild the SOP was to replace the eyelets in the expansion chamber with "Chore Girl" Copper or Stainless scrubbing pads. Those cans were less than stellar
