I have a question about moving.
What happens when you have a suppressor engraved (with the name of the trust, city and state), and you decide to move to a different state? Is the suppressor still legal to possess (assuming it is legal to own in the state)? Do you have to destroy it and obtain a new tax stamp for your new location and build another one?

Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
From what I've heard, and I could be wrong, it's just a change of address with the ATF.
Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
You dont have to do anything. You can notify them on a 5320.20 if you feel like it but its not required by law.

Stated right on your Form 1:
" The registrant shall notify the NFA ...in writing, of... any change to the address of the registrant." [snipped]

Anybody ever been prosecuted for failing to do that?
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.
Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
The "requirement" to notify the ATF of a permanent move of a silencer move is not backed by statute. Interstate moves of MG's DD's , SBS's etc different story. There is a black letter law backing that up. Silencers? Nope.

Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
I've had several instances where not keeping the registry up to date made a headache for me and took a bit of time to resolve. Simply sending a notification letter isn't difficult.
If you want to have that attitude, go ahead, no skin off my back. :/

Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
You can notify them if you feel like it . They certainly won't stop you. It does make things smoother if you go to sell something but there is still no legal requirement to notify them of the permanent move of a silencer interstate or intrastate. Ive sold something too and it became a hassle when the stamp went to my old address and my tenant threw it out. Doesnt mean I got a visit from the men in black though.

5320.20s do not apply/have provisions for Silencers and AOWs. You have no duty to inform. If you call the ATF, they will tell you that you need to send them your new address.
If you mention the language on the 5320.20, they will pause for a moment to think and then tell you to include a note on a separate sheet of paper that the move is for a silencer or AOW.

Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
This thread seemed to turn into a conspiracy theory, real quick.
Just to clear things up:
No one said there was a legal reqt.
No one said Feds were showing up at your house.
No one said a 5320.20 was req'd.
And, yes, I have had authorities show up to my residence (at 9pm) because their records weren't up to date. It was resolved, when I produced documents proving my case, but it happened none the less.

Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor
I moved within state and sent a letter to BATF saying I had moved with silencers. They sent me a letter back saying they preferred I fill out a 5320.20
I have already got My 5320.20’s back for moving with my SBRs.
