8.6 Blackout can

Hey experts.
I've been waiting for the 8.6 blackout to be a reality for awhile now, and if shot show information is to be believed then it looks like barrels may actually be available in the near future. To get ahead of the barrel arriving, I think its time to build a can for it.

My question is that I'm still somewhat unclear what the accepted best baffle geometry is for something like this. It would basically be something akin to a scaled up 300 blackout can, so what have people observed are the best baffle style for something where I would be shooting mostly subsonic. Was looking at the JR kits, but didn't know which ones are preferred; 50 degree, redial, mix of the two?

If anyone knows of any good places to look for clarity on this please let me know. I thank you all in advance for any assistance!

.338 barrels and suppressor friendly wildcat cartridges are available. You might wish to look at the Whisper line developed by J.D. Jones for other cartridges copied by others.
I have no idea what a redial baffle may be. The basics for suppression dose not change, subsonic require more baffles and closer spacing vs supersonic. A popular suppression system for mixed sub/super is cone baffles followed by K baffles. The most popular baffle is the ported cone. These do work if you use enough of them.If you expect quiet then apply a minimum of 12-15 in your build.

338 Spectre has been around a while among others on the AR15 platform. For a subsonic cartridge running in the 1000 FPS range it doesnt make much difference what the parent cartridge is. I run the Specrte which is based on the 10mm magnum cartridge and I'm very pleased with it. Point is there are several 338 based sub choices out there. You dont need to wait unless you just have to have a larger, heavier AR10 based gun that has parts compatibility issues that does the same thing as a smaller lightweight standardized AR-15 gun.

Just run a 9mm can . You can use it on other stuff too. Radials work fine. Thats what I use on the 9mm can I built for my Spectre build.

K baffles suck . You dont need 12-16 cones either. 6-8 clipped cones will be remarkably quiet with a 7" can. More than that doesnt do much for sound attenuation.

So I was having a discussion with Kevin Brittingham on facebook, yeah I know. He contended that 8.6 BO subs have more energy at 1000 yards than supersonic 308 does. I'm like WTF did you just type? I shoot 338 subs at 1000 FPS ish out the muzzle frequently . At 200 yards the bullet drop in like 4 feet . I'm not even really sure a subsonic 338 bullet would make it 1000 yards.

A Sierra 230 grain match king at 1000 fps will travel 4600 yards. If zeroed for 1000 yards, it will be 46 high at 500 yards.

I zero my subsonic rifle loads of any caliber at 200 yards. They are from 15" high (.510 whisper) to 18" high (22lr) at 100 yards.
